Alien Parisites

Jack knew he shouldn't have sent them into the facility. He knew from the second he gave the order for his sister and coffee boy to enter the warehouse how it would end. And boy how he wished for once that the world would prove him wrong.

If it had, then he wouldn't be stuck only able make soup and administer medication as the two people he loved more than anything coughed and shivered on the sofa.

Damn sometimes aliens sucked.

Even if they weren't out to explicitly murder you you could be sure they're carry any number of malicious parisite which can leave you feeling down right dreadful.

Ianto didn't want to appear weak in front of Jack, and (y/n), being immortal like her brother, straight out refused to accept that she was ill.

See Jack could deal with illnesses, heck he saw more than enough of it, but what he struggled with was trying to get his two patients to stop bloody working, sit on the sofa and watch some crap telly. They were like toddlers, the minute he turned his back to the pair, at least one of them would scarper off to finish whatever project they were working on.

"Ianto, how many times do I have to tell you, you are not at work today, you are letting me look after you and sitting here with (y/-" Jack began, he had only left to lock the front door, and when he came back he found ianto at tosh's computer. The captain's sentence was cut off one ianto reluctantly sat down and he noticed his sister had gone awol.

"She went to the vaults." The secretary snuffled, pointing to the direction to which the younger harkness had travelled.

Jack rolled his eyes in anguish. Why were these two being so frieking difficult? why could they follow instructions on how to use a rift manipulator but were unable to understand the word 'stay'.

Giving ianto a firm 'don't you dare move' look, Jack ran towards the lift and made his way towards the vaults to find (y/n) resting against the wall, eyes half open as she did something with one of the technical scanners.

"(y/n/n), sweetie, what are you doing?" He asked calmly. His annoyance dissapated rapidly once he saw her. He should know that she hates being ill, goodness knows he does; last time Jack caught a cold it took ianto and Owen physically pinning him down to make him agree to stop working.

"I'm just finishing taking the readings for the new database." She answered, still not looking up from the device.

"C'mon, let's go upstairs hm? I'll finish that for you later." He suggested, still leant up against the door frame, looking across at the sick teenager.

"I'll just take a couple more minutes I just need to-" She attempted to walk away from the crutch of the stone wall towards tye next cell but found the whole room moving around her and her balance unsteady.

Classic side effect of the nefrocoptetine parisite- you see the actual species have adapted the have large, wasp like eyed to combat the hyper perception during movement, but the human race, no matter how far from the future, were not so blessed.

Luckily Jack caught her in time.

"Look (y/n), I understand. You saw me last month- an absolute mess. But you and ianto looked after me then so now I need to do the same." He comforted the child, putting his arm around her to hold her up.

"Fine." She eventually complied. Ordinarily, she would secretly love the fact that Jack was so protective of her, but she didn't like needing someone to take care of her.

She always liked to think that even though she wouldn't want to, and hoped she'd never have to, that she would be fine on her own.

Perhaps she was wrong.

But it was in times like these that she couldn't think like that, and something deep down inside her couldn't quite compute it, in the same way her body couldn't quite stop shaking.

The vaults were undoubtedly cold but the fact that Jack could feel his little sister shivering violently next to him he was willing to take a stab in the dark and day she had a pretty high fever.

"Do you want me to carry you?" He enquired, remember her appalling attempt at walking a few moments ago.

"No I'm alright." She replied, partially clutching onto the captains side as she took a couple sets forward. It's didn't take long before the dizziness caused a sharp wave of pain to dark through what felt like each one of her synapses.

"Agh." (y/n) groaned in pain, closing her eyes and resting her forehead on Jack's shoulder in an attempt to regain equilibrium within her head.

The darkness kept on spinning.

At this moment in time (y/n) really bloody hated aliens.

"Please help me Jack." She pleaded to be relieved in a quiet, breathless voice.

Jack immediate scooped up the shaking teenager and carried her bridal style into the lift and up to the hub.

"You're gonna be fine (y/n), I promise." He whispered softly into her ear.

She kept her eyes shut as she rested against his chest. He was so warm, a stark contrast to the vaults where she had been attempting to complete her observations.

When he emerged back into the larger room, Jack was more than relieved to see ianto still sat curled up on the large, black sofa.

Trying not to jolt her weak body, Jack very carefully laid (y/n) down next to ianto. She detected the change in temperature but couldn't quite register what was happening in the midst of her fever induced slumber.

"Is she OK?" Ianto questioned, looking with concern at the unconscious girl who was resting her head on his side.

"She should be a bit better after she's had a couple hours sleep and some medicine, if not then I'll have to call Owen in. You two push yourself too much and look at how it ends up." Jack answered, failing to mask the tension in his voice. He didn't intend on sounding so irritated at them both but he was just slightly distressed by the state the two before him were in.

"I'm sorry." Ianto apologised, looking down with a guilty visage.

"You have nothing to apologise for." the captain informed him, leaning down and planting a kiss on the top of his head.

"Oh and talking of medicine, you should take these." Jack continued, passing ianto two red and yellow pills.

Jones just stated back at him with his eyebrows raised.

"Painkillers, fever reducer and maybe a bit of a sedative-shoudk help you sleep it off." The leader assured him the medication was safe. Too many pills around were torchwood 3 base were retkon that ianto wasn't taking any chances.

Timeskip 6 hours:

It was darker and quieter when (y/n) woke up. She still felt cold and slightly shervy but thankfully her monstrous headache had finally disappeared.

It took her a couple minutes to realise that Ianto had been replaced by her brother who was just as quick to notice that his sister was awake.

"How're you feeling?" He asked, resting the back of his hand on her forehead to find out for himself.

"Better." (y/n) replied. Jack drew the same conclusions from his temperature check. She evidently still had a small fever but nothing that would be a cause for concern like before.

"Where's ianto?" She enquired.

"Upstairs in my room." He responded.

"Ooo, his dream come true." (y/n) quipped. Jack rolled his eyes and smirked at his mischievous sister before tucking a strand of loose hair behind her ear.

"Glad to have you back (y/n/n)." He told her. The girl smiled up at him.

"You should know by now Jack, that you're never getting rid of me."
