"Yes, yes of course, Oh Cheon-jae. Of course you will sing at the reception. We can talk about it when we—"

Oh Cheon-jae swung his guitar around the front of his chest and strummed a few chords. He spoke loudly over the melody.

"Because I know Yoon Hye-jin loves 'Blue Scar on the Heart,' don't you?"

Hye-jin smiled broadly and nodded.

"That's just the song that I was thinking of!"

Du-sik watched Oh Cheon-jae and Hye-jin smile knowingly at one another. Then the artist formerly known as Oh Yoon began singing as she clapped her hands together excitedly. Du-sik felt his cheeks begin to ache from smiling.

You'd think he was a member of DOS the way she looks so happy.

Hye-jin looked exactly like the way he felt right now.

Oh Cheon-jae paused and exclaimed to Du-sik.

"See Chief Hong! Look how much your fiancé loves it!"

Fiancé.

The word made his heart thud against his rib cage. The rope of fate had finally turned in his favor. This brave, brilliant, beautiful woman rocking on the balls of her feet was brimming with excitement planning her wedding to him.

Du-sik was filled with wonder at the improbability of it all. Who would have thought all those months ago that Ms. Dentist would be clapping her hands to Oh Yoon's music while her engagement necklace glinted in the sunlight? You could have told him that the sun would rise in the west and he would have declared it more likely.

When Oh Cheon-jae finished singing, Hye-jin and Du-sik clapped and murmured their thanks. Then she looked over at Du-sik mischievously.

"I am so grateful that you will sing at the wedding! When I asked Chief Hong to sing for me..." She whispered conspiratorially. "Well, he told me to go home."

She raised an eyebrow playfully. Du-sik lowered his head and looked at her meaningfully.

"Ask me again sometime."

It was absurd how happy her beaming smile made him. Du-sik drank it in until Oh Cheon-jae cleared his throat.

"Okay, okay you two." He held his hands up as if he had his full. "I better leave you now!"

He leaned forward to clap Du-sik on the back.

"I'm glad you followed my advice."

He winked before sauntering away.

Du-sik let out a breath and shook his head at the memory of their conversation long ago at the cafe.

A small, warm hand slid into his and pulled at his arm.

"What? Do you not want him to sing? I think it would be nice."

Du-sik would answer all of her questions now. It was a silent vow he had made while sitting by her side that night under the lighthouse.

"No, it's not that." Du-sik scratched the back of his head with his free hand. "Before we started dating, he told me that I should pursue you."

She yanked on his arm.

"Oh? And what did you say?"

Dissecting their path toward coming together was one of her favorite topics of conversation.

He looked at her deadpan.

"I said it wasn't like that."

Du-sik covered his mouth as laughter burst from his lips.
