Part 4

I sighed then smiled at Father standing beside us before facing Alex again.

The dude was gorgeous no doubt. Clad in a black suit with a white rose tucked in his front pocket, he looked like one of those handsome male models; his physique even better actually.

I was so glad my threat of calling him a frog in public if he cut his hair too short, had worked. Had it not, I'd have really considered running away. It was his hair I was marrying, not him. Ha! Kidding! Oh but the hair part is true.

I sighed at my own immature thoughts.

Father was saying a lot but somehow every voice in the room had faded as my staring got me lost in Alex's blue eyes, their depth holding every happiness in the world. I had never imagined this day happening. In a matter of minutes, we'd have a new title and if that wasn't ridiculously exciting, I don't know what was.

Having known each other in 6th grade, we'd been best friends ever since. Everyone knew we were the inseparable duo. Ours was a friendship strongly based on arguing about the silliest matters then making up over pizza or bribing chocolates. Ironically, food was also the reason behind 80% of our fights! The idiot wouldn't let me eat in peace if he was around...which was almost always. Totally okay with starving me I guess. Still, it was a bond so natural we clicked on everything; from lame jokes and sarcastic remarks to mischievous deadly pranks, laughing maniacally sometimes at our own stupidity. But the best thing was we always had each other's back even while fighting. Giving advice then going 'Who told you to do it!' when it backfired was a talent!

We loved each other...as best friends until the day Alex got on his knees with an exquisitely beautiful ring saying, "I'm so attached to you I feel like you practically are my other half, my soulmate. I can't bear the thought of parting or losing you to someone else. I can hardly put what I feel in words but I'd love to spend the rest of my life with you, no one else." I still hate myself for laughing hard and screaming "WORST PRANK EVERRR!" in his face. Poor guy had to stay down for almost an hour before I realized he was serious. I'll save you from the drama that followed...
