The sunrays gleamed through the windows of the drawing room into Cornelia castle and shone upon Princess Amelia's long, brunette wavy hair as she rested her petite head on the sofa and looked blankly ahead at the ceiling either in dismay or bore. For she was a very fervent and queer person; the sight of her resting quietly in a silent room was odd and this oddity was good enough reason to guess that Her Highness was lost in thoughts of perhaps, an innocent mischievous plan.
It could never be known what she was thinking of though since her actions were both spontaneous and unexpected of a young lady with high prestige. The very reason why she was submissive enough to even agree to be married into the Cornelia kingdom without any argument was a mystery yet to be solved. Nonetheless the marriage between the Cornelia and Amethyst kingdom was much of convenience and political than on the speculation of Princess Amelia and Prince Ichibad being a suitable match to the other.
As a matter of fact Amelia and Ichibad were the most oddest of pairs. Both had a vehement and fierce personality and that made them clash over opinions; opinions that were just formed simply to oppose the other, since they were unable to oppose the royal marriage. Moreover being only a year apart did not help soothe matters. They were eighteen and nineteen and perhaps much against the idea of a union, but now suddenly had to walk hand-in-hand together as a pair eternally. They were pressured into obliging their family's request, as it was to waive an impending war if no agreement of peace was made between the two warring countries. And thus clashes between the two kingdoms were glossed over on the event of marriage between the youngest of royals of both countries. Prince Ichibad was the youngest of four siblings; all male and Princess Amelia was the youngest of eight with three brothers and four sisters ahead of her. And even though none spoke of it, it was a known silent fact that both the youngest were used as pawns and a way to prove the reason for their existence. The very marriage that was held to hold matters down was actually upon eggshells at the expense of the lives of the two young royals. And it was up to them to keep the ropes tight so that the blades did not fall upon their necks. As a result the frustration could not be sought out anywhere else and the couple resorted to bickering with each other.
Surprisingly the wedded couple had now been married for a good six months. But it was because Prince Ichibad was much involved in the military affairs of the country and had been away as soon as after a week of the marriage to fulfill his political duties leaving his eighteen year old wife alone in the castle with his family members. Father; King Rivan, brothers; Prince Stefan, Prince Gregory, Prince Leopold and his sister-i- law Duchess Leona (Prince Leopold's wife).
Princess Amelia had always been a loud, cheery and straightforward person, but being left in an unfamiliar environment alone without company had made her keep to herself around the other family royals. She was unaware of their calculating moves and chose to remain silent over matters instead of acting recklessly. Graciously this worked in her favour to hold a reputation within the castle walls and helped her keep her dignity intact in the gritty environment. Because even though the marriage had been decided by the kings of both countries, the enmity still brewed within. A wrong lifted finger could wildly make matters worse.
...
"Your highness, your husband has arrived back from his military duties. The King requests the presence of the young couple at supper by the clock."
Sua; Princess Amelia's personal maid (and) former governess entered the drawing room and relayed the news of the prince's return.
"I did receive a letter that he would arrive today. When did he return?"
"I believe it has been an hour and more, your highness."
"...Then why it is that he did not come meet me in the drawing room?"
"Perhaps he waits for you in his chambers... or and no- I believe, I believe Prince Leopold asked for him to discuss matters" Sua answered as she gazed upon Amelia advertently who now had a lifted eyebrow in ridicule of the situation.
"What matters Sua?"
"I do not know my lady."
"Of course, you don't" Amelia let out a sigh and sank back on the sofa she sat upon and gazed outside.
"My lady, perhaps if I had known that your highness missed her husband so very dearly I would have relayed the news to Prince Ichibad so he would come meet you sooner."
"Tch! Who missed that prudent and rude prince?" Amelia remarked as she got up and soothed her silk dress over. "I will be heading to my chambers now Sua, please tell the prince I will meet him directly in the dining room for supper. And after you do, come quick and help me get dressed. Also send in for Mary."
"Will do so my princess." Sua nodded as she sweated profusely and made haste to leave the room.
Sua had known Amelia ever since she was young. She cared for her and taught her as her governess while they were still in the Amethyst kingdom and had followed the young bride to her new home soon after her betrothal. She had believed that she knew of young Amelia best but Amelia had a knack of being unpredictable. Surely since the young princess disliked her husband so, why did she want him to come meet her in the drawing room first thing upon his arrival? And why did she not go meet him at the castle entrance as soon as he put in an appearance? Of course, Sua missed a crucial key to the situation. It was not that that the prince was missed by his wife but that the wife expected importance and devotion to be shown by her husband. It was Amelia's childish way of thinking herself superior. And now Sua put the pieces together of the reason why her lady sat so quietly in the drawing room, all afternoon. It was because she expected the prince to come home and at once be at her disposal. And it wouldn't end there; the two would begin a parade of foolish bickering over maybe the written words in the Prince's letter that could have been phrased differently or something similarly silly before eventually tiring out of absolute vague ideas to an unintelligent argument. Because as much as the princess was guilty of such behavior, the prince was too and it was only a matter of time before both parties met and snarled loudly with their bare teeth at each other. Even if Amelia had become shy in front of the royal family members she was always ready to brawl with the prince.
Sua let out a quiet laugh as she headed towards the east wing royal chambers to deliver Princess Amelia's message to her husband. She reminisced the time Amelia and Ichibad met for the first time at Cornelia Castle and the one week after the marriage that was an utter chaos of half-witted dynamics between the couple. But the months that followed after Prince Ichibad's departure were much calmer in comparison except of Amelia's usual antics to relieve herself of boredom. Just the other day she had climbed out of her bedroom window sill pulling in a tree branch to grab a hold of the red ripe apples that hung on the tree. Amelia had surely forgotten that she did not particularly possess any muscular arm strength whatsoever and was surely not in her conscious mind to play tug of war with a strong, thick branch of a tree. She was saved by Sua herself, who had visited the chamber to wake the young princess up at dawn and was met with such impeccable disaster waiting to happen. Surely Sua's life was now shortening at a faster rate than ever.
But now Sua shook her head worried. It had been calm ever since the day after the prince's letter arrived. And Sua was not as much worried about Amelia as she was of the other family royals that dwelled within the castle walls. It was probably preparation of sinister plans because the calmness that now engulfed the castle was an indication of an impending storm and it would begin right at the time of supper...
