We're rushing into the elevator by peacekeepers. Today each tribute is going in for scoring. The room is underground which is strange to me. Mom and dad are told to stay by the elevator, while River and I are escorted to a room filled with tables. We were the last tributes to get there.
We are assigned the table with the big "12" on it. We sit and hear as the other tributes are called one by one.
Four hours have gone by when River finally gets called. He gets up and walks into the training room. I wonder what he's going to do. He can't really do anything. I have a feeling he's thinking the same thing.
About ten minutes passes by and I am told to go in. I get up and open the big metal doors. All of the game makers are talking and not paying any attention to me. I walk until I get to all the weapons displayed. I stand for a minute or two thinking what I want to do.
I have the perfect plan. I immediately grab four of the archery targets and place them all in a straight line close together. Then I go over to the knives. I grab four of them as well. I look at the game makers and they are still not even acknowledging I'm even there.
Facing away from the targets and towards the game makers, I stand in the very middle of all four of them. This will definitely grab their attention. I throw all four knives with the sharp side facing the targets at the force field in front of the game makers, and quickly drop on the ground. When the knives touch the force field, a ton of sparks fly everywhere in and outside of it. The knives then hit the targets. I stand up to see if I did it and I did. Every single knife hit the middle of the targets. I look back at the game makers who stare at me. They're all shocked. I give them a rude smile and dismiss myself. As I'm walking towards the door I can tell they're all just looking at me still in shock.

I get back to the district twelve floor. I hear everyone talking in the living room so I decide to join them. When I get in the room Hannelore shouts, "They're about to show the scores!"
I sit down by my mom, just as Ceasor Flickerman pops up on the screen. "Hello ladies and gentlemen! I know this what you've all been waiting for, so let's get to the scores! First we have district one with Cannon getting a nine and Talia getting a seven! Next district two with Laketon getting an eight and Gia getting an eight also! Now for district three we have Myon getting a five and Brita getting a two. In district four we have Sheldon getting a six and Marina getting ten!"
I don't listen until Ceasor gets to district eleven. "Now for district eleven we have Basil getting a solid seven and Clementine with a 10! Now for our last district, district twelve we have River getting a score of 9 and Sage getting a score of, you guys are not going to believe this but, twelve! Sage Mellark just made a new record of highest scoring tribute that ever lived!" Everyone is congratulating me.
"Sage what did you do?" Mom asked.
"I threw knives at the force field and they bounced off and hit the center of four targets." I say trying to explain the best I can.
"Well good job! Now let's go eat!" Mom says.

At dinner I eat lamb stew and dried plums, my favorite. The rest of them discuss the games and how one of us can win, but I tune them out because I'm obviously not getting out of this. All the other tributes are so much older than River and I. There's a big chance we won't even survive the first minute of the games. And I'm also going to be a target considering I got a twelve! So what's the point.
"Sage do you like that plan?" Dad asks. The whole table is staring at me.
Not knowing what I'm responding to I say, "Yeah I do."
A few minutes later River and I start talking just us two while the adults talk about other things that don't matter. "I could tell you weren't listening to that," he chuckles, "but we do need a plan for what we'll do at the bloodbath."
"I feel our best bet is running away and my parents can send us food because you and I both already probably have a lot of sponsors."
"I agree I think we should do that. We'll look for each other when we're on the platforms."
"Okay."
"Goodnight Sage, I'm gonna head to bed now!" River says walking away.
I should probably do the same so I get up a little after him and head to be room. I crawl into the thick covers and start to cry. I don't want to die and I especially don't want to die on a big screen while all my family members are forced to watch. I hate the capitol and I hate Henry.
