 Mid September of 1997

The boys and their father had moved into Clarence House soon after the boy's mother had her funeral. Harry had turned 13 and was finally at Eton with his brothers. William grieved for a while but seemed to be okay now, Harry grieved but Alastair knew that he would never be completely okay because he and Harry were extremely close to their mother, but Alastair was not doing well, he continued to grieve like no other and he was only just starting to get a little better. His great grandmother and his grandfather noticed that Alastair was often not present in family activities and was often in his room. Alastair spent his time reading, studying, looking at pictures of his mother that he took or drew, or crying. Alastair felt that since his mother wasn't alive he had to find ways to prove to her that he would be the best son he could be and make sure that the world knew that mental health was a real thing. He wanted to make his mother's death worth something and make her memory stay alive.

Charles, his grandmother, and the rest of the family didn't notice their grandson or son pulling away from them and thought he was just busy or out reading a book. His brother's noticed their brother pulling away but knew that he would come back to them and decided that he just needed some time. Harry knew better than William what his brother was going through as in a way he was going through it too, so whenever he could he helped his brother like making drawings, making him laugh, and giving him good memories of their mother. William tried to help Alastair too but was often snapped at, causing William to give his brother the space he thought he needed.

When the twins returned to school, everything was different, their friends would carry things for them and would ask them how they were doing. But their friends refused to say anything about twin's mother except unless the twin's mentioned her. But one small group of two boys, hated the twins and since Harry started Eton, him too. They called the boy's names and bullied them. After Harry started at Eton, they started bullying him asking if their dead mother had an affair, if Harry was even their brother, why his brothers tolerated a affair child, and why Harry had weird bright red hair. The boys bullied the twins by asking if their mother killed herself because she couldn't stand them, if their parents marriage failed because of them, and if their mother let the public chase her because she wanted to die to get away from them.

William and Harry tried to ignore those comments but they often couldn't and threatened them and nearly causing fights where their friends defended them or took the blame. Alastair was so busy studying that when the two boys bullied him, he either didn't notice or refused to respond because he knew that if he responded that he would seriously harm the two boys.

  Sometime in June 1998

More time passed and to Alastair it was like an aching but very blurry time. By the next year, he studied and often focused on passing his classes and not joining in on school sports like his brother's had. When his birthday rolled around, Alastair's studying had finally slowed down and he now thought about his first birthday without his mother. And it didn't help much that it was his 16th birthday, a normally important day for girls, but the twins felt like it was a special date for them too. William had asked him if he wanted to go to a pub to spend their birthday with friends but Alastair decided not to because he wanted to spend time alone remembering good memories of his mother when they had birthday parties together.
