Kaoru

I finished putting on my suit and looked at myself in the mirror. It was grey and tailored to fit my body perfectly and it looked great on me. I smiled and braided some small flowers into a part of my hair, wondering what Kojiro would think when he saw me. We had been dating for three months at this point, and I was nervous about this dance. I was scared that Kojiro would face homophobia because of it. Because of me.

"Kaoru, sweety," my mum called up the stairs. "Kojiro's here."

I quickly finished my hair and did my makeup before running downstairs. Kojiro was sitting with my parents on the sofa, laughing loudly. I blushed when I saw him and smiled. His black suit looked really good on him. His hair was neat and he painted his nails black to match mine. He smiled at me when he saw me, standing up and walking over to me. He kissed my cheek and I wrapped my arms around him, pressing my head into his shoulder.

"C'mon boys," mum said. "Let's get some pictures of you."

I laughed and Kojiro stood next to me, wrapping his arm around my waist. I put my hand on his chest and we smiled at my mum. I was nervous for the evening, but I knew I'd be fine as long as I had Kojiro with me.

"We'll be going then," I said, kissing Kojiro on the cheek and taking him to the door.

"Let us know if you're going to any parties after," mum said as we picked up our skateboards and left the house.

I got onto my bike and Kojiro sat behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. I turned and kissed his cheek before starting up the engine and driving towards the school dance. We got there and I parked up my bike, watching all the other couples walk into the building.

"You ready, pinkie?" Kojiro asked, holding onto my arm.

I nodded and we followed the rest of the couples. Everyone looked great, and the girls were wearing really nice dresses. A few heads turned towards us when we entered but I just smiled and rested my head on Kojiro's shoulder. A few girls complimented my hair and I ended up talking to them while Kojiro got us both some punch.

"I can do your hair like this at school," I told the girls with a laugh as Kojiro came over to us.

"That would be amazing!" One of the girls said, clapping her hands.

"Thanks, Sakurayashiki," another said and they went back to their dates.

Kojiro chuckled and we sat at a table, holding our drinks. We were in a corner and the room was pretty dark so I leaned into Kojiro and kissed him softly on the lips. He kissed back and we pulled apart after a few minutes and just looked at each other. Kojiro was beautiful. He had defined cheekbones, a sharp jawline, and beautiful deep red eyes that would draw you in. And everything about him was so kind.

"I love you," I said quietly, going back to my drink.

"I love you too," Kojiro replied, putting his arms around my shoulders.

We sat like that for a while before the music changed and a slow dance started. I stood up with Kojiro, laughing lightly as I led the dance. Kojiro was hopeless and kept tripping over our feet, nearly taking me down with him a couple of times. I didn't care though. Bad dancing was one of the things I loved about him. Sure, he could dance to music in my room when we're alone, but dances like this always made him trip up, ever since we were younger.

"Hey, you're getting it," I whispered as we continued dancing. "Don't force it, just let it flow."

Kojiro managed to finish the dance without falling over again and quickly sat down in a chair. I continued dancing with a few classmates before joining him again. I sat on his lap and rested my head on his chest, putting my arms in his jacket and hugging him around his waist.
