Wind tugged against his fur. The clearing was just in the distance as he prayed to the stars above that his feet wouldn't give out yet. The ground seemed to sink in as the warrior's vision grew blurry. No. He had to keep going.
Just as he thought. She was there. It didn't take long for her to notice the heavy breathing of her mate behind her.
"I have to say, I didn't expect you to come so quickly. Thought the shock of it all would make my sister hesitate," she spoke in a humble way. Before, he could get a word in, she brushed up beside him, feeling his warm fur under the newly moonlit sky.
Always so kind, yet such a tease.
" You'd be crazy if i'd miss a moment like this!"
" As always, so excited to get to the big reveal."
They both trotted a little ways. The clearing slowly leaving their sights as a grassy plain bordered the horizon. The two seemed to enjoy themselves even more as they began sprinting together along the river bank. Giggling like two apprentices that had just caught their first prey. Except, this accomplishment was so much more...
It didn't take long for the couple to reach the spot. A willow tree that had fallen over moons ago, but stuck between two strong oaks. Inside was something small. Almost hidden, but the warm hue of a soft white underbelly poked through the crevice.
The tom couldn't help but smile. He couldn't believe his eyes.
"Perfect..absolutely perfect..."
They carefully tucked themselves within the confines of the willow, protecting the little one like a father and mother should.
"She has your eyes..." she spoke after a moment of adoring silence.
"So its a girl?"
"Yes, and she's perfect."
The kit mewled a little and snuggled more into her mother.
The father looked up at her and asked, " Have you come up with a name yet?"
She thought for a moment. Took a few seconds to consider the possibilities, then decided on something fitting.
"Silver' kit."
The male blinked for a second.
"But she's white and brown...not silver?"
The she-cat smiled giddily. "I know silly. But she also has the cute little silver tufts on her ears. Almost matching the stars."
After the tom inspected their kit just a bit closer, he had come to a decision.
" Silver'kit it is."A/N:
