Chapter 1

  Wednesday 11th July,2018
Abby.

Sitting in my room thinking about wha she said the other day if she meant it or she was joking.I walk out of my room, I see my brother in the passage.

"Hey Max,wats good?"

"I'm good, but you and mum woke me up,why all the noise?"

"It was Mum,I answered rolling my eyes,but she's calm now."

"I can't wait to get my internship done and go back to school,"he says

"Meanwhile Dad has been looking for you,m.j asked for you, if you were awake,I thought he was going to drop you at the office."I said looking at him sternly.

"I will go by myself"he replies .

"Then go tell your dad that,he has been disturbing me all morning."

"I thought we spoke about the attitude you give when it comes to dad,it really is annoying."

"I know Max,but you won't understand,that's why."

"We'll you can't hide it from us forever,whatever he did,you should let go,move on, think about mum,she's ok now,we should be happy.And he loves us,mum loves him,at least do it for us."

"What do you mean us?"I ask

"Well he is the one paying most of the bills,he is refusing to take money from mum,he is already going through hell,the hospital bills were so much..."
his voice trails off.

"Max!!stop trying to make me feel bad or look bad which is worse.What he did was terrible.And I won't sit back and act like it was ok or pretend to be happy with him or about it"

"Ever since mum,I don't know what's wrong with you,you think it's his fault she went through all that?we were all grieving in different ways, everyone did whatever they could to take the pain away,you know feel better a little."

I scoffed at what he said.
"Ever since mum,everyone changed" I said with a smirk on my face.

"Oh,you find this funny yh??"he walks away from where we stood.

As I watch him leave,my inner voice says"dad cheated"

"Abby where are you?? "Mum yells.

Our mum,Latesha,a 49 year old now retired author,her situation forced her to retirement,after her accident,she suffered partial amnesia.She was comatose for 15 months.We lost our Aunt too.Ever since then our lives have not remained the same.

"Yes mum"I answer as I approach where she's sitting.

"Where are my pills??"she asks.

"Oh!I forgot.Let me get them for you"

I fetch her pills and a glass of water from the kitchen.

"Here you go"she takes it and puts the glass on the side stool.

"Hey mum"I say as I sit beside her,you need to take your bath so we can go for your appointment with the doctor"

"Should I run a bath for you??"

She nods.as I walk away, I look at her and say"I love you so much"
