The earliest things that i can remember was the feeling of being cold and wet with great fear as though it felt like it was never ending, until a woman had appeared with a beautiful black dress as if it were made of dragon scales, her long black hair reaching her lower back, and her bright green-blue eyes. The woman seeing me when I was a baby had decided to take me under her wing, keeping me dry and out of the cold, hard rain. The next few things i could remember after she took me from the rain was her caring for me treating me as though she was my biological mother she had fed me, washed me, made sure i was somehow clothed even as an infant, taught me how to read, write, how to have manners while eating, proper social etiquette, and gave me shelter in her cave. As the years went by around the age of five I had wandered out of the cave to explore the woods around where the cave was until I had gotten too deep into the forest and lost my way. When I came to realize that I was lost I became scared and fearful of my surroundings and I walked around aimlessly and carefully as I did not know what could be lying in wait. As I walked, hours had passed and I had stopped on a tree to rest as I was tired from walking and when I closed my eyes I fell to sleep. When I reopened my eyes due to a loud snap I saw myself surrounded by wolves who looked as though they were going to pounce on me and rip me apart a young five year old boy. When the wolves were just about to attack my mother had appeared from nowhere and stood between me and the wolves as if ready to kill them if they dare make a move. When the wolves saw her they bared their teeth and began to attack my mother then stopped when her body morphed and shifted into the body of a dragon with black scales and a grey underbelly, looking as though she were royalty of some kind, then roared, scaring the wolves away and slightly startling me. When she had shifted back to human form she looked at me with heavy sadness as if to say "I didn't wish for you to see this...." and as i stared all i could think of was "Amazing i never knew that mother could be so strong...." until i snapped out of my trance to see my mother walking away from me to which i had stood up, ran towards her, and hugged her tightly to her surprise. When she turned to look at me all she could possibly see was amazement and wonder as I had never seen her do something like that before. As I looked up at her. Her expression went from sadness to a happy warm smile and she bent down to hug me back to which she whispered in my ear "Most people would become afraid or terrified of me if they saw something like this happen right in front of them" to which i responded with "But why it's so amazing and great you were so powerful and all you did was roar!" She then had softly chuckled to my response then stood up and said "Here hold my hand and let's go home." Needless to say i had taken her hand and when we arrived home she had sat me down and explained to me everything about her, that she was the last living dragon in the world being older than 10,500 years old, that she knew how to use magic, and that the year of the world, at the time, was 2009. So with this new found knowledge a question had entered my mind "Could humans use magic like dragons could?" When i asked my mother she had said that only few humans in this day and age have the slightest affinity with magic as if the magic of the world was all but gone. Upon hearing this my head fell and my expression became slightly sad when my mother saw this she had put a hand on my shoulder and said ever so softly "You may not realize it but the world is always changing and its vastly different than when it used to be when i was young but even so i can sense in you a great aptitude for magic so cheer up little one because as your mother it is my duty to teach to you how to defend yourself if the need ever arise even if it's in the use of magic." When she had said those words something in my heart began to blaze as if a passion had been kindled and brought to a burning flame. When I looked up I was beaming and from that day forward my mother had taught me many different magics. When i was around the age of 10 i had learned all basic and intermediate magic that my mother had learned herself when she was a young scholar for magic and had stated several times that i may as well be one of the best prodigies she has ever seen in her years of living. With more time i had begun learning mastery level magic but not quite mastering them as they required more research but when i became 16 my mother had made a proposal to me she said "How would you like to visit a nearby town?" i looked at her puzzled to which she said "I mean ever since i've found you you've never had any friends let alone friends your own age." When she said this i grimaced slightly thinking about how it was just us living alone together i didn't really want that secluded life we had to be disrupted but she was right i never had friends before more or less my age as well so i accepted her offer but i asked to postpone our visit til i was 17 because i wanted a little more time with just us. Although the year passed faster than i would have liked, but then again when you wish to keep something away the world always finds ways to make you do it, so when i became 17 me and my mother had walked together to the edge of the forest to a cliff that spread very far and very wide and i saw for the first time what a city actually looked like, it was completely different than what i had imagined it to be over the course of the year, but it seemed pleasant nonetheless. I was so amazed I wanted to hurry down as fast as i could but mother had held me back with a serious look on her face so i asked "Mom? What's the matter?" She had looked at me in the eyes and grabbed both of my shoulders then said "I know this may be your first time going into a city but please always remember that not everyone is a kind or caring person like I am. You might find people that seem to be terrible and awful but please do your best to stay away from them. Do you understand me?" I was taken aback. I had never seen mother so serious before but I nodded and tried my best to keep her words in mind and when she let go of me I turned and prepared myself for what kinds of people i may face and with that my journey began. Oh I never told you my or my mothers name. I was named Orien Hendrix Ashford and my mothers name is Libelle Hendrix Ashford and this is our story.
