On the opposite side of this thin lake they were drenched in, to Jay's eyes, she observed the massive prison. Her eyes widened, with slight fear and bewilderment. She was terrified. Being remarkably close to an official navy establishment flooded back bad memories.
Chip swam to the land closer to the prison. Surely guards were guarding the prison, but a large solid stone fence prevented them from seeing the bottom half of the prison. Jay swam over to him once he stepped onto land, his entire outfit drenched, and so was Jays, obviously. "We can't walk in there soaked like this," Jay said, bothered by the fact she was wearing soggy clothes, which was rather uncomfortable. "What other choice do we have? We can't wait for them to dry, nor get new clothes." Chip explained, considerably correct for once (/lh).
"We obviously aren't going to enter the prison through the front entrance, there must be some other way in." Chip said. The prison was considerably large, made entirely out of stone and grey palette bricks. The roof being a slope, relatively flat, but enough tilt put into it. Encircled by the same cobblestone tall fence that bordered the lake, which circled around the town on this island.
"We have to go through the front entrance, what other way do we have?" Jay said, giving Chip this immediate idea as he gazed at her. "Yaknow what? I think I have a plan, we're just going to walk right in, I promise I have a good plan." Chip explained, beginning to walk along the fence to reach the opening of it that lead to the face of the large building. "Oh god..." Jay mumbled to herself, not bothering to ask questions, knowing he won't tell her his plan, not even any clues. Jay was used to just blindly following Chip's "brilliant" ideas. It's become a habit whenever they got into situations like this.
Approaching the entrance of the prison, two guards were holding position on each side of the door, laying eyes on the pair of pirates undercover, eyes observing them step up to them. "Name?" The left guard questioned, "The name is Winston!" Chip, or now known to these guards as Winston, answered with confidence.
"And the lady with you?" The same guard attached the question, looking at Jay as she hesitantly waved stiffly. "Oh, this lovely lady here is my wife! Karen!" Chip answered, doing an unbelievable job at hiding his laughter at the name he gave her, knowing very well that it would irritate her. Jay widening her eyes at this dumbass bit he played out for the plan. "Oh! You're a lucky man!... er... might I ask why you're both soaking wet?" The guard on the left questioned, suspicion raising once more,
"Uh... Let's just say we get creative when giving our family another addition to it, if ya know what I mean" Chip winked, trying so hard not to laugh. Jay stomped on Chip's foot noiselessly, not to let the guards notice her. Chip winced at the blow to his foot, yet managed to stand upright with his confident posture. "Oh- uh yeah okay- go on in-" The guards both suddenly grossed out, no longer questioning why he brought his "wife" with him.
"I mean, I could tell you how it went!" Chip willingly said, both guards panicking and trying to refuse the offer. "No no no! Just- just go inside... jeez" The left guard sputtered out, his mind bleeding as images flashed in his head. Poor guards. "Very well, cmon darling, let's get inside" Chip playfully hummed as he strolled inside, holding Jay's hand now.
"Once we get Gillion back, I swear I'm going to kill you." Jay threatened Chip, seeming annoyed. "Awe, I love you too Karen~" Chip made a kissy face at her as he felt her stomp on his foot again. "Gah alright alright!" he chuckled out as he leaned away from her, still entertained by his marvelous plan. "It worked, we got in, that's all that matters." Chip stated.
The hallways were narrow, plain-featured, and long-drawn. The walls were constructed of stone and torches were mounted on the walls, being the only "decoration" in this dull hallway. The floor was also stone, but instead, it was made up of large stones/cobblestone.
Their footsteps couldn't even manage to echo down this hallway, as if the hallway was stringent and too thick to allow any type of echo to run through its walls. They maintained walking, seeing another set of double doors, as Chip then cautiously swung them open, now seeing a large square room with a higher ceiling. Tables are placed on the sides to clear a path for walking. Tables had at least two or more wooden chairs paired with hem, empty cups, and plates placed on a few of them. A rack of navy swords hung neatly was placed against the wall on the right.
The room had two other double doors placed on either side of the walls, two navy guards sat at a table, chatting together and seeming to not acknowledge Jay and Chip as they made an appearance. There were no signs that helped them navigate, or label the doors. "E-excuse me" Jay walked away from Chip and approached the men at the table, who seemed kind, as they cooperated and paused the conversation. "Ah, hello ma'am'' One guard greeted Jay kindly. He had short brown hair, a smaller fella, not as muscular as the ones that chased Jay and Chip earlier. Jay gave him a warm smile for his polite greeting,
"I was wondering if you knew which door led to where the prisoners were kept?" Jay questioned politely, noticing how the other man remained silent, taking sips of his ale. "Why do you ask? Everyone who works here is familiar with the layout and how to any certain destination" The guard questioned, suspicion rising.
Chip tagged in and decided to help Jay out here, stopping in his tracks as he watched Jay turn her head and mouth "Let me handle it" to him, then turn her head back to resume speaking the man. The guard who had been silent noticed Chip step back after attempting to speak, but paid no mind to it and resumed sipping his drink.
"Well, you see, my husband here, as you can see him over there. Is actually new recruitment. This is his first time here, so we are having troubles-" jay was suddenly cut off, "We? Why are you tagging along with him exactly?" the guard asked, keeping a polite tone, of course. "Oh, well... It's a sensitive topic to mention, but I'm sure you want an explanation. You see, a few weeks ago, our Son passed away at such a young age. Ever since I couldn't bear being alone, so my dear husband brought it upon himself to allow me to be with him, so I can feel comfortable." Jay dramatically explained, a single teardrop escaping her eye.
Not only the guard who asked the question, but the guard with him both froze up, starting to feel emotional. "Thats- that's so sad-" The other guard finally spoke after keeping quiet, tears streaming down his face so suddenly. "That understandable, I'm so sorry for your lose.." The guard in front of her, still sitting, also broke out into tears. Sniffling and wiping away smith with his sleeve, he used his other arm to extend out and point to the door on the left. "Down that door, y-you travel down all the way until you come across a steel double door. Behind the double doors is where cells are located." the guard choked on tears as he explained the route to the cells. "Thank you, now let's go, Winston," Jay said, starting to walk over to the double doors and push them open.
Jay and Chip began walking down yet another dull, gloomy hallway. The silence was disturbed by the sniffles of tears coming from the chip,
"Chip? What's wrong?" jay asked, concerned and worried as she turned her head to face him. 'I c-can't believe our sons d-dead.." he genuinely said, as Jay's expression went deadpan. 'Chip, we don't have a son." "N-not anymore of course." Chip choked on more tears. "Chip. We're not married, we never had a son."
"S-still, that was so sad to hear, I'm emotional when it comes to children." Chip said, wiping tears away with his sleeve which seemed to be dry now. The clothes that were once soaked, were now starting to dry. Jay facepalmed herself and decided to ignore Chip while he tried to gather himself and toughen up.
