Kyle's POV:

I squinted my eyes as light beamed into the dark and damp basement. I looked away thinking they were coming back down the hurt me but I heard someone else's voice and men shouting.

I brought all my strength into scrambling up off the ground and trying to move toward the door.

Nope. Bad idea.

I grown as pain floods runs up my legs and back. It's no use. There is no way I can get up.

"Help" I shout as loud as I can, but only managing a squeak.

I thanked the lord above because someone had heard me. They probably had the biggest and strongest ears imaginable but they heard me and that was all that mattered.

A man, tall and muscular burst through the basement door looking around frantically until his eyes fell on to me. He rushed up to me, scooping me up into his arms and carrying me up the stairs.

The sun. Fresh air. Grass. A couple things I haven't a seen in over a year.

And it felt so amazing to be outside.

I couldn't enjoy it for long, though, because I was pushed into an ambulance and rushed to a hospital.

"Are you breathing okay dear?" The nurse in the ambulance asked.

I looked up at her and nodded my head. Ugh! Even that hurt!

"Ok honey, I'm just gonna insert this antibiotic into you so that your body won't hurt anymore" she said before quickly jabbing a needle into me. I have to admit, I jumped a little when she did it. It triggered a lot of terrible memories of what to me in that basement. I shudder at the mear thought.

"That shot...is powerf-"

And my head fell back into the surprisingly comfy pillow before falling fast asleep.

Don't let people take you for granted. And if they do, show them what they messed with, that you are strong.

That's what my mom said to me the day she died. She was 38. Far, far too young to die. But what can I say? Cancer is a bitch.

Now I feel I'm in the same situation.
I mean, I don't have anger or anything but being in a very near death experience works..

I guess.

Being hooked up to about 70 machines was the least of my discomforts. I was wearing a very thin robe and under it I was completely naked. Ugh why.

Soon a doctor came in and took my pulse.

"Oh my, Mrs. Tanner. Your heart is beating very fast. You do know you are safe here, don't you?" He said looking at me with concern clear in his eyes.

I wanted to take my wrist from his hand and slap in the face. Safe?! He thinks I'm safe?! I'm not safe anywhere anymore. I wanted to just spit on his face for such a comment.

But I kept my cool and just glared at him.

I assume he took my silence and facial expressions as answer and he carried on.

"Ok, well your left leg is broken is 2 places. Your right ankle is sprained slightly, but it will heal fairly quickly if you get some good bedrest. Your arms and hands are fine, and as for your head, you have a mild concussion, hopefully that last for long either though" he coughed uncomfortably.

I nodded as he set his clipboard down and started to walk towards the door.
"Oh, also you will be let out tomorrow"

And then he was gone, and I was left alone once again.
