"Well, don't you seem too happy?"
I jolt up from my bed when someone suddenly entered my room. My mother was smiling, still on her apron, as she entered the room. I tried to brush the smile off of my face and then cleared my throat.
"I mean, it's Christmas." I reasoned out, shrugging my shoulders. She sat on the edge of my bed, putting her hand on top of mine.
"Where were you again yesterday?" She asked me. The look on her face shows a smile but tone on her voice makes me think that either she already knew and is only waiting to catch me lying.
I avoided her eyes and look down at her hand on mine. I let out a small breath and put my other hand on top of her hand. "I came with granny Akashi to her daughter-in-law's house, I spent Christmas eve with Takeomi's siblings since he was away." I explained and looked up at her to give her a genuine smile.
"They had a strawberry shortcake." I added, letting out a small chuckle after. My mother hummed, pulling her hand away to tuck my hair behind my ear.
"That's great." She said and then proceed to stand up, putting both her hands inside the pocket of the apron she's wearing. "The food's almost ready, get dressed and go down now." She added and then turn around to leave.
The moment she closed the door of my room behind her, I let the smile on my face fade. I let out a small breath and then collapse back to my bed. I dug my hand in my sweater, by my collar, and pulled the necklace out. I stared at it as it shone from the light in my room.
I just need to not get caught again.

A new year has began and now we are back to school, actually for more than a month now. I was very wary of my parents and always made sure to go see Shinichiro only if I was sure that my parents won't be around, and luckily we haven't been caught. Today I am supposed to have a club meeting but our president postponed it and of course I will take this opportunity to go see him again.
I just got off the train and immediately started walking on the path to Shinichiro's shop. I am sure he is there. That's the place he always goes to right after school.
The moment I reached his shop I was relieved to see it open. I skip towards it and immediately barged in. I rushed towards the guy standing by the door of the office and hugged him from behind, letting out an excited chuckle.
Shinichiro froze and I can already imagine the blush on his face. I look up at him, grinning. "Surpri-" I froze as well as I looked at the person I am hugging. He has black hair and black eyes but definitely not Shinichiro!
