A/N: As stated before, this will mostly be the same story as before but with a less cheery spin. Vote, comment and let me know which you prefer. Spoiler Alert: If you don't like MomoXJirou, don't read!

It was the start of the 2nd year for the old 1a class of UA, and major life decisions were still to be made. What path in what district would be best for one's capabilities and their Quirk upon graduation? Whether to take the financial leap and start building up one's own agency or play slow and steady and sidekick with a few existing agencies for more experience. But perhaps one of the most important decisions of all was which ships would stand the test of time or crumble and fall when the students finally parted ways. This wasn't a concern for Kyoka Jirou, who had finally confessed her feelings for her personal butt of her jokes and best friend Denki Kaminari after all the craziness at the end of their first year. That was the theory anyway.

In fact, it was after he came to her aid during a particular bout with the Paranormal Liberation Front where she was backed into a corner along with Momo, and unleashed a devastating Shockwave that took down the baddies, but frazzled his brain as usual 🥴. In fact it was HIM that blurted out in his 'Yay' state his true feelings for her, to which she happily, and tearfully, returned his affections (thanks for the shove Midnight-Sensei, rest in peace). It may not have been the most romantic confession, in a literal warzone, but it was one of the most precious moments of her life. And it continued to grow over the summer and into their second year. They had gone on several dates over that period and her parents and his dad were always so happy to see the other. They had even kissed several times up to this point (their first being under her favourite cherry-blossom tree 😚). And she was touched by his dedication to her wellbeing that through it all, he never once pushed her to do that with him (though deep down she suspected she would have if he asked). This whole relationship thing was almost perfect. Almost.

Truthfully, she knew the kisses they shared were not completely honest. What's worse was SHE was the one not being completely honest with him. She hid a secret only Momo and Mina knew, and even they didn't know ALL the details. What would Denki say if he found out? Would he reject her? Would he never want to see her again? She realised if this relationship was going anywhere, she had to know, and today she was going to find out.

Jirou walked down the halls of UA dorms on the boy's floor, making her way to Kaminari's room. As she neared his door, she heard the sweet sound of him rehearsing his guitar solo for their band's upcoming number. With the unbridled success of their band performance at the sports festival last year, her and Kaminari along with Momo, Tokoyami and Bakugo had decided to keep it going with their original line-up and put on another performance at the end of this term with their officially unofficial group 'Murder You With Music'! She knew they could do with a better name but no one was passionate enough about that to challenge Bakugo; he was after all the best drummer they had (maybe because he was allowed to hit things as hard as he liked). Kaminari on the other hand you could swear was born a guitarist with the way he strummed now. Jirou felt a tiny swell of pride that she had started him off teaching him the basics and hearing him now, and a tiny bit of anxiety over what she was about to do.

She finally reached his door and knocked. The strumming stopped. "Yo?" came the casual answer inside. "Denki, it's... Kyoka." She loved that they were on first-name basis now, she truly hoped it would always be this way. "Hey Kyo, door's open." he replied cheerily at the sound of his girlfriend's voice. She let herself in and carefully made her way around the pigsty that was his floor towards him. Kaminari placed his guitar to his left on his bed and watched her thoughtfully as she sat down on his bed to his right looking perturbed. "So what's up babe? You texted saying you wanted to meet in my room but didn't say why?"

Though not the brightest light bulb in the box, Kaminari could tell something was bothering Jirou for a while now. He wasn't sure when exactly but he knew if something or someone was making his girl unhappy, it needed resolving right away. She continued to look down at the messy floor looking strangely morose before sighing and looking at him directly. "Denki, how long have we been together now?", "4 of the happiest months of my life.. " he replied earnestly, ".. unless you count the time since we first met as well." He grinned reflecting on the times they shared together, but seeing she didn't smile back, his own faltered slightly. He sensed there was a major 'But' about to enter the conversation. She looked into his golden eyes, trying hard not to chicken out and began slowly "Denki, there's something I need to tell you, about me. Something... I've been meaning to tell you for a while.", "You stepped on a field mouse when you were little? Don't worry, I won't tell Principal Nezu..." Kaminari replied with a mischievous smile. Trust that beautiful 'Jamming-Way' to say the most random thing. She closed her eyes and sighed exasperated. "Wait, DID you step on a field mouse when-". "No Denki.." she said getting fed up now with his cluelessness, ".. the thing is..I'm....... I'm... bisexual."

Kaminari paused for a moment before the mischievous smile returned. "If this is a new kink you're into I'm definitely game-", "IT'S NOT FUNNY YOU IDIOT!!!" she shouted, furious he had the nerve to hear her bear her soul to him and treat it like a joke. She turned her red face away, adament not to let him see her eyes getting misty. All pretenses of playfulness disappeared as Kaminari realised there might not be a ladder long enough for the hole he had just deposited himself in. "Wait.." he began, trying his best not to sound even more insensitive ".. are you serious?" "Yes I'm serious." she replied shortly, still not looking at him.

Kaminari was quiet for a while, as he began to regard her in a whole new light. "Is it.. Yaoyorozu?" She knew exactly what he meant. How often had she savoured Yaomomo's embrace both when she was happy and when she needed a shoulder to cry on, or the touch of their hands together when they ran to the next activity or even when they were running for their lives during a surprise villain attack? And then there was Kaminari, the idiot who took her underhanded jibes and kept coming back to be her support whenever Yaomomo wasn't there. Jirou was so confused but she knew she couldn't keep going like this; he deserved a straight answer.

Kaminari took Jirou's hands and gazed into her shining lavender eyes with his Amber ones (which she now noticed looked like they were holding back tears themselves). "Kyoka, are you happy... with us? 'Coz I don't want you feeling stuck with me out of pity or duty." He gave her hands a gentle squeeze, conveying as much love as he could for her in that simple act. "I just want you to be happy." And that was the critical point. Jirou knew she loved Kaminari. But was she IN love with him, as in the kind a girlfriend should feel for her boyfriend? She tried to picture a future with him but thoughts of that gentle smile under those Onyx eyes kept flooding her mind. She knew what she had to do.

"Denki, these past few months with you have been some of the happiest of my life, and I can never thank you enough for being multiple times my Hero, and my friend.... but.." she paused to take a deep breath and sighed before continuing, "..I can't just stop feeling this way for her." Kaminari looked down at the floor, with a sombre expression. "So.... we're breaking up then." He said as a statement in a neutral tone which she knew hid the pain she had inflicted on him. She replied as delicately as she could "... Yeah... Yeah we are."

Perhaps it was seeing her look so unhappy or him not wanting to appear 'Unmanly' as Kirishima might put it if he wasn't such a decent guy. The next thing she knew, Kaminari had pulled her into a tight hug she wasn't sure how to respond too. He then spoke with a reassuring tone, conveying as much care and sincerity as he could in spite of his obvious hurt. "Well for what it's worth, I hope things do work out for you and Yaomomo. She'd be lucky to have you, and I know you'll make her happy... You did for me." Slowly, Jirou returned the hug, acutely aware she might herself start sobbing any minute, but finally set free from the terrible weight on her shoulders.

Their hugging session was rudely interrupted by a ping from Jirou's phone, shortly followed by a similar ping on Kaminari's. They had both received a text from Bakugo informing them they had another matter to discuss concerning the upcoming band number, and they had both better get the (Swear Word) over to the UA cafeteria ASAP. Jirou looked at Kaminari with a sad sortof smile. "You coming Denki?" she asked in a cautious voice, to which he gave a slow nod before replying. ".. Yeah.. Yeah sure. I'll meet you there. Just gotta... fine-tune this last cord for a bit." She opted not to pry into the lie further, but turned to leave, stopped, turned back, raised his head with her left hand and placed a tender kiss on his left cheek. "Don't give up Denki, on your music, on being a hero, or finding the right special someone. She's still out there, so long as you persevere, 'kay!" Kaminari looked at her and gave a small, sad but genuine smile. "Thanks Kyo, you too."

An awkward silence fell between the two as Jirou finally turned to the door and walked out of his room. She didn't look back or listen further as she left, fearing the state she would find him in. She knew she had broken his heart and that hurt wouldn't go away over night. Still it was better this way than staying with him while pining for another. It might already be too late for her and Momo, but she would no longer worry about what if? She still had the best friends ever, including one loveably random 'Chargebolt' who was stronger than he realised. And would always be her No. 1 Hero!

A/N: What do people think? Too depressing or do you prefer this ending? Any spelling or grammatical errors? Hope you enjoyed it anyway!
