As the young girl sits staring at the pictures, she sees friends she knew years before havoc would rain down on the world decades after the first great war. She was sixteen when Japan bombed the United States naval base in Pearl Harbor and the news of the attack had spread like wildfire. The United States had just declared war on Japan and its allies, Italy and Germany.  Young men from all over the country were being chosen to train for a couple weeks and later be shipped to the war front across the Atlantic. You were now walking home from the grocery store there was now limits placed on different items and supplies.

After arriving back home you looked at your home, a small house on a stretch of land that was in your family since the age of prairie homesteading. After arriving in the small house, you put the groceries away and walk into your living room. It is now dark, and you close the blackout currents in the room. Turning on a few lamps after the currents are closed. You sigh and walk to the door leading to your basement.  When you get down into the basement you grab an old yearbook from school and flip around you find yourself, eighth grade class 1 - y/n Stark. Close by are pictures of two of your best friends, James Barnes and Steve Rogers.

You hear the phone ringing and answer it, "Hello, who is it?" you ask kindly and quietly. The voice on the other side is familiar, as it belongs to one of your elder brother a military general at a training camp.  He asked how you were and if you were ok. You reply" I am fine. Are you ok? How's training? Are they ok?" your brother responds" Good to hear, I am fine, and so are they. So please calm down." " I am sorry," is your now calm response. A little while later you hang up and question what the world around you have become. You are alone, at only seventeen, you live in the countryside with your closest neighbors being a mile and a half away. That's when you make the decision.
