I am awoken out of my slumber by my alarm. It's another workday. I huff, turn off my alarm and slowly get out of bed to take a shower. When I get in the bathroom I take a look in the mirror and I'm definitely shocked. I look like a wreck.
Yesterday I went to bed very late, because I had to finish my online school assignments and it took forever. I guess I really need to stop postponing my tasks if I want to sleep. I also forgot to take my makeup off before I went to bed, so now my mascara covers my whole face.
When I start to take my clothes off I hear some meowing from below. I look down and smile.
My cat George is staring at me. Or well more like glaring at me. "Good morning to you too grumpy," I say with a lot of sarcasm. He just keeps glaring at me and I let out a sigh. "Yeah, yeah I will give you your food after my shower. Just go watch the birds by the window until I'm done or something."
He looks at me one last time and finally leaves the bathroom. I resume taking off my clothes and get in the shower. The warm water immediately relaxes my muscles a bit and it instantly calms me a bit. I start washing my hair and body quickly.
After I shower I put on my work clothes and look at my phone. I instantly start to freak out and rush, because it was 10.25 a.m already and my shift at the bar starts at 11 a.m. It would take me at least 30 minutes to get there by foot, so I'm going to be late.
I brush my hair, put on a bit of mascara and run to the kitchen. I had already brushed my teeth in the shower, so that was one thing less to worry about.
When I get to the kitchen, George is sitting on the counter waiting for his food. I open the cupboards and as I grab his food I see that I'm almost out of cat food. I guess I will have to buy him some later, otherwise George will get even grumpier than he already is and I really don't have the energy to deal with that.
After I put his food in a bowl and filled the other one with water, I give him a kiss on his head - which he of course doesn't really enjoy - grab a banana from the counter and a bottle of water from the fridge and go to the door to put my shoes and coat on.
When I get outside I look at my phone and see it's already 10:40 am. I guess I will have to run.
I have just started my sprint when it starts to rain. Of course it has to rain when I do not have a raincoat or anything on. Maybe I have something laying around at work.
When I finally run through the door Miley, my boss, sends me a glare. I look down, say a very quiet 'hi' and rush to the back. As I get there someone throws a t-shirt in my face and yells "Hey dumbass! You're late, Again." I look up and there she is. Grace, also known as my best friend since elementary school. She smiles at me and basically orders me to change, because apparently 'I look like shit and I am completely wet.' Gotta love her complete honesty.
I quickly change and when I'm finally ready I let out a very deep sigh. Grace gives me a sympathetic look. "Don't look at me like that," I tell her. "Like what?" She asks, faking her innocence. "Like you pity me, you know I hate it when people do that," I scold her.
Now she lets out a deep sigh. "Babes, listen to me. You know I don't pity you, but I am worried. And as your best friend I am allowed to be." I want to tell her that everything is fine and that she really shouldn't worry, but she just raises one eyebrow and I keep quiet.
We quickly talk about her life and when I want to ask her something about her love life we get interrupted by Miley yelling that we need to hurry up and get to work otherwise she will take the first hour of our pay. Grace looks at me and we roll our eyes, but quickly go out front.
