Y/N woke up with start as she heard her mother's voice screeching at her from downstairs. She rubbed her hands on her eyes trying to get used to the sun coming from her window that currently was blinding her. She did a scan of her room like she'd never seen it before and instinctively reached over to the tiny counter near her bed for a glass of water. But her hands went right through the glass that wasn't there. She looked over at the bed stand and saw her wand and a letter sitting there from a certain scar-headed boy and suddenly realized.
"Y/N WAKE UP YOU'RE GOING TO MISS THE TRAIN." Her mother's voice said ringing in her ear.
She threw her covers off suddenly and stood up, then immediately regretted it as the lower body was greeted with the freezing cold air. She truly hated her sister for this specific reason. Angela, her older sister had turned the thermostat (with their parent's permission of course) to 19 because it was apparently good for her skin. As she got used to the cold air, she walked to the bathroom and looked at her reflection. Her bonnet was about to fall off, hanging on to her hair that was put in a bun that wasn't really a bun anymore and more of a tangle full of hair. She took off her bonnet and put it on the edge of the sink and started to attempt to pull out the hair tie. Sometimes, like times like this where her hair didn't want to cooperate with her, she felt like she wanted to cut it all off. Or change it with magic and imagine she had long silky hair that didn't shrink up when water touched it.
But her mother, who was a muggle, wouldn't let her do that if she was alive and even if she was dead, she would haunt Y/N and make it rain all time if that was possible.
So she managed with what she had and after a struggle she pulled her hair tie off and was left with oily hands and hair that looked like it was defying gravity.
Y/N got the spray bottle from under the sink and started to wet her hair and once it was fairly wet, started to pick it out. After a while of trying to pick it out to the way she wanted her hair to look like, she put oil on her hands and dabbed it off on the afro.
She washed her face and took the lotion in the cabinet and spread it on her face, then took cocoa butter and put it all over her body and spread the rest on her face.
Y/N changed into her clothes, having took a shower the night before.
She slowly walked to the long mirror in her bedroom and looked at herself. She felt tired and her eyes were droopy but she decided not to spend a lot of on her looks this morning. There were more important things. Like going to Hogwarts and seeing Hermione, Ron, and Harry.Y/N started to blush internally at the thought of Harry, but her thoughts were interrupted as her father walked into her room.
"Hi darling, you have to get ready or your mother will skin us"
Her father stated in a groggy tone that sounded like he just woke up but her father always sounded like that.
He chuckled to himself and said, "I know I'm the one with magic but your mother scares me more than any other person on this earth"
She laughed at that and yawned stretching her arms, taking one more look at the mirror and went downstairs with her father.
~
After a long breakfast and an argument about the amount of clothes her sister was bringing to Hogwarts despite the fact they were supposed to wear their robes most of the time, they filed into her mother's car.Her father had always asked to go by side-long apparition but her mother had always insisted to go the so called "muggle way".
Her mother popped in a C.D and the first song came on.
The lyrics of Jazz (We've got it) by A Tribe Called Quest started to play in the car making the mood 10 times times better than it already was.
Time flew as the album, A Low End Theory, played in the car and everyone's songs came on and in no time, they reached Platform 9 3/4
