This will not follow Demon Slayer manga/anime perfectly so do not comment about that.

Thank you for chosing this story.

Reader POV

They say that fire brings out the worst in people. It destroys humanity.

But as a woman and I run from our village, the fire is our guiding light to freedom.

"Quick, through here!"

We ducked under a huge bush and put out the fire with snow, watching our attackers run right past us.

I looked down at my hands, the blood from my family painting them red.

We waited fourty five minutes until we made our move.

The woman used her sword to generate a beautiful blizzard to protect us from everyone.

Snow crunched underneath our old shoes as the howling winds got higher, all bowing to the empress of winter herself.

"Come, my child."

I took her frosted hand and we walked towards the coldest regions where we knew no one would dare try to follow us.

As the hours droned on, my mind began to fog up.

"Mother..." I gripped onto her hand as I shivered. "I'm so cold."

She looked down at me briefly. "The cold...it knows you, sweet child."

I stopped walking, my feet numb and tired from endless hours of walking.

The woman didn't stop walking. "Someday when you finally realize what happened, I'll be waiting. Until then, grow stronger, my sweet."

I found myself wrapped in her warm white coat, snuggling into it as a huge sheet of ice formed a dome around me, the stars glittering.

I dreamt of endless paradise of eternal winter, people smiling and laughing as the snow fell down and children made snowmen.

The rustle of thickets informed me that someone was drawing near.

There was a huge cracking sound and I saw nothing but smoke and two large hands coming towards me.

I couldn't tell who it was, but they held me close as warmth surrounded me for the very first time.

...

The man who took me from the ice had firey red hair and a son with the same hair.

"Who is this, Shinjuro?" A delicate woman's voice asked as he carried me up wooden stairs.

"It's a girl, Ruka." The man had said.

The woman's gentle tone turned sharp. "I know it's a girl, dear. But who is she? Where did she come from?"

"Lay off, Ruka. If you think I had a fling with the missus from down the road and she's a product, you aren't thinkin' right."

The man put me down on a soft surface and left, telling the woman to see to it that I was alright.

"I have to report the incident to the head of the corps," Shinjuro said in a low voice. "And regarding the win'er witch, nobody saw a trace of her except the things my men put outside."

Their voices died down as I drifted off to sleep again.

The next time I woke up, there was something that jumped on the soft surface.
