Chapter 11: The Disaster Of The Second Round

In took an overall 30 minutes for all of the genin teams to agree or leave, get their scroll, and walk over to their designated gates. As time was up Anko held up a megaphone and shouted for the second exam to start at the same time sounded a cirene in the distance which made the proctors all over unlock the locks at the gates and let the genin through. Team 10 instantly vanished with body flicker which caught the Procter that had the keys to their gate, off guard and made his jaw drop. The three genin kept on traveling through the thick forests large tree branches at a high level of speed, that was until they stopped to make a plan of action.

(Dom) "Alright now that we're inside the forest we need to make a plan."

(Shikamaru) "The most logical thing to do would be to go to the tower and set up traps and other small surprises for other teams when they've gotten a scroll and are heading to complete the exam."

(Ino) "That could work, however we will also leave us sitting ducks if another skilled team comes upon us while we're vulnerable."

(Shikamaru) "That is also a factor as well, but its either that or going out to hunt another team down and take their scroll so what would you prefer?"

(Ino) "How about we go to the tower and set up a sort of camp filled with traps and other pleasantries and stay there during the night but go out hunting for a scroll during the day?"

(Dom) "That's not a bad idea, if we have a camp then we can also secure food that is if none of you brought any with you from earlier today."

(Shikamaru) "I thought that something like this might happen so I brought a backpack with rations that can properly keep me going for two days or so."

(Ino) "I was more in a last-minute rush, so I only packed to barely two days of potential surviving."

(Dom smirking) "Then it's a good thing that this forest is inhabited by animals and wood is plenty although it might be best not to make too big of a fire as to not attract too much attention."

(Ino disgusted) "But these are wild animals that properly roll themselves in their own dung, do you really expect me to eat something like that? If I do then my beautiful figure is sure to take damage one way or another."

(Dom deadpan) "Relax Ino, if you're that against it then you can have some of my rations while I eat the meat off those animals instead."

(Ino smiling) "How thoughtful of you Dom."

(Shikamaru) "Whatever, we should get moving or other teams are going to take all of the spots around the tower before us."

Dom and Ino stopped their antics and nodded before all of team 10 once again dashed toward the tower at high levels of speed, they didn't encounter much trouble other than wild animals on the way there and arrived within the hour. They stationed themselves in between a couple of trees and a river that marked the boundaries between the forest and the tower, quickly they set up a small camp and began placing traps all over the surrounding area. They could sense other teams of varying strength around the tower as well but for now they didn't go out of their way to take any of them down.

In 30 minutes, they had laid a solid foundation of traps and other small surprises for anyone willing to go for them during the night but seeing as it was still bright, and the day was still young they all decided to go out and start hunting now. Even if they found a scroll already then it would be better than to wait one extra day inside of the forest in order to get a scroll anyway, while on their way they saw many different kinds of animals and plants but didn't pay it much mind.

Suddenly Dom stopped dead in his tracks and shot a glare sharply to the right before jumping up to dodge a barrage of kunai coming from a bush, Ino and Shikamaru stopped as well and looked back to see if they could find the attacker. Shikamaru got down in his stance and made hand seals for the shadow possession jutsu before launching his shadow at the bush. As he did that two other people came dashing out of the trees behind him and Ino but said blond girl just casually turned their way and shot a glance at their headbands. They were from Iwa, so they definitely came with the intend to kill no matter what was needed, it was a girl and a body looking to be a little older than Ino that dashed her way, but she stood her ground. As they got close enough she dashed toward them and caught them off guard with a fast jab to the face of the guy while delivering a swift reverse spin kick to the girls back head. Silently she thanked Dom for the grueling lessons in taijutsu, but she would never admit to him that she was thankful for those beatings, that would make her sound like a pain loving masochist and that wasn't the image she wanted him to have of her. When she turned back around she saw that Shikamaru had the last member of their team caught while Dom had just knocked the living hell out of him with a powerful gut punch, team 10 quickly lined the three Iwa genin up against a tree and began searching for the scroll. They found it but unfortunately It was the same one they had so it was useless although Dom stored it anyway to cut down the competition even more and potentially to give it to one of their friends. They tied the Iwa genin up on a branch so that they wouldn't get killed by a wandering tiger immediately but at least had a chance to wake up before ant accidents were to happen in the trees. Quickly after that went to continue their search elsewhere, during the trip around the forest they found and beat several teams while taking their scrolls. It was the best plan of action to hinder too many other teams from going further and thus limit team 10's chances of success. Even if it wasn't very noble of them they kept thinking to themselves that this was the ninja world and being noble was cool and all but in the end all it would do was to bring you and your closest people to their deaths that much faster.
