Chapter One

I'm really taking a chance here! I'm doing something that hasn't been done really. So I hope you guys enjoy, and give me feedback!

DeVante Swing

"We fell so far in love
Now our baby is born, healthy and strong
Now our dreams are reality!" K-ci sung into the mic.

I nodded my head then pressed a few buttons on the sound board.

"How was that?" K-ci asked.

"Good, just make sure you watch that bridge, okay?"

K-ci nodded.

"Let's take it to the chorus." I said then started the music.

"Forever my lady
It's like a dream
I'm holding you close
You're keeping me warm
If this is ecstacy
Forever my lady
I say just what I mean
Forever and ever
I pray is what I see"

I closed my eyes, feeling the music and lyrics.

I wrote this song for my lady a few months ago. K-ci and Jojo heard me working on it one day and told me to put them with it. So I got them and my brother Dalvin, and now we're Jodeci. A combination of all our names.

We just got signed to Uptown not too long ago. Now they're making us put the final touches on our album Forever My Lady before we release it.

I'm more than ready. I wrote most of these songs when I was 16 and I'm 21 now, so you can say I've been anticipating this for a while.

"I know, I messed up on that last part." K-ci said.

I shook my head. "No, you got it right."

"Where's Jojo and Dalvin?" K-ci asked me coming back into room from the recording booth.

"They should be here any minute now. They just went to grab some food."

As if on cue Jojo and my brother Dalvin came in.

"Yo! We got the food." Jojo said.

"Yeah, we know your fat ass got the food." K-ci joked.

Jojo flicked K-ci off.

"Love you to brother. What did y'all get?" K-ci questioned as I worked my magic on the sound board.

"Burgers," Dalvin said passing him one. "DeVante you want?"

I shook my head. "Not yet. But listen to this y'all."

I played the song. All I had to do was add in K-ci's part and that's what I just did. Now the song was done and so was the album.

Forever My Lady.

"Yoo I like that!" K-ci said.

I nodded as they all gave me fist pounds.

"Jodeci is gonna be on the top yo! Just watch!" Dalvin said.

"The 90s aren't looking so bad after all." Jojo said nodding.

One thing about Jodeci is that we have confidence and faith. Shoot, I dragged these guys all the way up here to New York with nothing but $300.00 and a dream, that's faith and confidence alright.

"Y'all remember that we gotta go to that fashion show so we can get extra fly for our album release party." I reminded them.

Jodeci, we never wear the same thing twice. We're trendsetters if that's what you wanna call it. It's simple. If you're different, you get noticed.

Jojo groaned. "Why we gotta go to a fashion show though?"

"Because we gotta meet with our new stylist. She's the stylist for the fashion show so we might as well see a little bit of her work first." K-ci answered for me.
