Kingdom of the shadow ashes.

Chapter1

How did I never notice this? It was you. Even in this life, your eyes, still captivate me. They still creep into the deepest part of my soul. Of course, it's you, only your eyes could make me stop in my tracks, but this time it was not because of their beauty, but the pain and anger that they create. Your gaze that shoots over our colliding swords makes my blood boil and my heart break at the same time. How could you do this, "I loved you."I say as I drive my sword into your stomach. Resting my head on your shoulder, a tear rolls down my cheek and onto the soil. The sky darkens and the rain blesses the battlefield. One day it will grow again. An acre of trees, sealing the burials of many brave soldiers. Well, meet again, my love.

My story begins like every other. Boy meets girl, boy falls in love, both get killed and re incarnated-Okay maybe not. The thing is you see, my past life has always been a blur to me. I woke up one day and for some odd reason, I could not get this image out of my mind. An image of the most extraordinary eyes, a set that I have never seen in my life. One blue and one-half blue and brown. Blue like the sky, but not any sky. The sky after a storm has passed and there are still streaks of clouds looming. The sky early in the day when the sun is smiling at its highest. Not a diamond, but a blue Howlite stone, mined in the deepest parts of the northern mountains. Beneath it is a brown of sorts that only comes to mind when thinking of fertile soil. Yet I cannot compare these eyes to anyone I know. Who are you and why can I only remember those eyes.

Re-incarnation is not a stranger to these times. Many people remember their past lives, good or bad. My gran always used to tell me about hers and how she used to be a queen and a very powerful one at that. She used to say she could remember my soul and that I too will remember and become great. Now I'm sure you're still wondering about that being killed part. But the sad thing is. I too do it know yet. For now, I am but a mere peasant boy, living on a farm with his parents on the outside of the walls. I often sit and stare at the walls and wonder about the kingdom. Sometimes the wondering turns to rage, and others, envy.

These 150m tall walls surrounding the kingdom were erected by the current king. King Soren. The king of the sun. Our kingdom was once ruled by a vicious and greedy leader called, the shadow king. King Soren defeated him and saved the Shadow kingdom's people. He divided the land into two districts, The kingdom, and the shallows. The kingdom is where all the important people and the king's army reside and the shallows are where all the farmers and peasants go about their lives. This is my home.

My parents were very humble people. My mother was a farmer's wife that dabbled in sewing. She had dreams of becoming a seamstress, but she always said she loved to dream. She could never fulfill or works towards those dreams as she was taken from us a few years prior. My father, one of the best and most loyal soldiers alive, had lost his way after the previous king fell and he had lost my mother. My father became a farmer and the father of a young boy. Alone with no one to guide him. My father is a strong man with a heart of raw gold.

Even though my father raised me by himself. He did have a few friends that made it a bit easier on him. My uncle Arion promised my mother that he would teach me magic and alchemy, the same way his father taught him and my mother. My father hates magic and wants me to become a swordsman for the royal guard. My father believes that magic was the sole reason my mother died, even though every time I ask him how it happened truly, he gives me very vague answers. I love magic but my heart is set on becoming one of the royal soldiers to help my father and get him out of this dead-end farming job.

Arion is more like my alcoholic brother than this wise uncle that is supposed to teach me the secrets of the world. My father reluctantly agreed to study magic, on the grounds that I would also be trained as a swordsman. I have been struggling with the magic part of my training with Arion and I think that might be driving him to alcoholism. I have been training with my sword since I was 5 and could hold up my first wooden sword. My father said I will earn his prized possession once I can defeat him in a duel. A gold-plated handle sword with a purple gem stud at the edge of the handle. It is a slanted sword, hand-made for my father by his best friend, a blacksmith that is currently staying inside the walls. For now, I train with my old rusty sword with a wooden handle that is wrapped in vines and rusted beyond repair. I do love it though. My mother wrapped the vines around the handle when I got it the first time, as I complained it had given me splinters. I miss her every day.
