I raced across the frozen lake, my paws aching from the freezing ice. Snowy wind slapped my face and blinded my eyes, and whipped past my fur. Snow clung to my wet fur and formed around my lips. I clenched my chattering teeth and drove on.
"Jason, be careful!" the dark gray akita dog warned, but I could barely hear him over the whipping wind. Suddenly I heard the ice below me crack and groan. The lake was breaking, and I wasn't even halfway close to the finishing line!
