The next morning Rea awoke thinking only about the surprise her mother had told her about. Like a runaway train, her mind had come up with a thousand different things her mother could have. The distraction had caused her to put on two different sets of socks and walk back and forward from the bathroom twice without accomplishing anything. Once she had conquered the difficult task of her morning routine she rushed downstairs to find her mother. A bit of hope fizzled out when she saw nothing new downstairs, and Rea realized she would have to wait a bit longer.

"Good morning, Rea," Her mother said cheekily

Her mother looked over from the pan of eggs she was cooking and seemed to notice the fact Rea was looking all over the place. She was so curious as to what awaited she was about to start tearing the house apart. Her mother smiled and laughed

"Just a little while longer. Surely you can wait and eat a little"

" Good morning," Rea said, sitting at the dining room table.

Breakfast went by as quickly as she could gulp it down. Would her surprise be arriving later or was her mom hiding it?

"You are so excited you're practically vibrating. I had no idea one surprise was gonna make you go wild." Her mom commented

"What can I say, it's been a while since I got a good kind of surprise. " Rea said back

"Well then you better get in the car"

Rea squealed and lept from the table. She ran to the car so fast she nearly ate pavement. They drove off and Rea put on her headphones. Her mother wouldn't tell her a single thing about what awaited them so she might as well get comfortable. The early morning and the music help her to sleep.

When she awoke they weren't moving Rea rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and then she realized they were at a dog shelter. At that moment she had thousands of different thoughts on why they were at a dog shelter.

"Hey mom, why are we at a dog shelter?" Rea asked, still half asleep.

"This is the surprise! We are going to get a dog for when I'm at work." Her mother said.

"Cool a dog," Rea said in shock.

Her mom laughed at the shocked face. Once Rea got over her shock she got out of the car so fast that she tripped on the seatbelt and merely face-planted on the concrete.

"Are you ok Rea?" the mom said with a chuckle.

"Yes I'm fine," Rea said.

"Ok let's go in." the mother said.
