Snappy civil servants along with the top brass law enforcer gathered around the table inside the conference hall heeding upon the call of the Superintendent himself. Everyone from an administrative position in the law enforcement, Lieutenants up to First Deputy Superintendent and everyone in between partook the quarterly assembly.
Lt. Kim and Lt. Manoban wasn't an exemption, they sat there all day long almost feeling their butt fall into sleep. It wasn't a crucial subject that was laid on the table, just the normal discussion to much heighten the security between borders, stations upon stations. To make it short and sweet, it was an overall update about the crimes and the safety of the nation.
That aside the lead that the two Lieutenants were following is in progress. As promised after a week, Lt. Kim presented a detailed list of the businesses that were under the protection of the shady Prosecutor. Some businesses around South Korea weren't under his name nor in partnership with him. However, it was a total mistake to think that an expert like Lt. Kim couldn't crack something as easy as that. It was her field of expertise beyond everything.
Among those businesses was owned by some politicians, top brass government employee's and the most thought-provoking one is; Jang Research Center LabCorp. A Pharmaceutical company that processes and produces medical drugs supplying every hospital around South Korea, even abroad. More the reason why Lt. Manoban investigated the said company. She lurked around the tall building rooted between the boundaries of Dasan-dong and Hannam-daero. And sometimes leisurely sat over the café across the building, eyeing every in and out. Not missing every single suspicious container van passing through the basement car park.
"Argh! This is cumbersome." Lt. Kim growled as she deflate her own body against the leather seat of Lisa's car. "Nation's bloody safety. Was all the First Deputy Spt. blabbers for almost 3 hours! He can't move on to the next objective."
Whilst Lt. Manoban haul out the key fob, pressed the ignition, and step on the accelerator pedal before the Targa roared to the street of Jung-gu district where the assembly took place. "The subject was nonsensical more or less." she voice out her verdict.
"His running out of ideas—I didn't even grasp where his words going. My eyes were wide awake but my mind passed consciousness within just his 3 lines." Jisoo snorts and lets out a throaty laugh thoughtlessly.
"You're a waste of brain cells chu you know that? I'm starting to question why was Korea's government wasted its money to hire you?" She gazes over her with eyes filled with humor, pulling a cunning smirk.
Lt. Kim held her chin high and cockily perk her brow. "It's just proved that my being is important." she incline more against the leather seat and slowly raised her legs aiming to place her shoes covered feet over the dashboard, hence before she could commit the action she was stopped by Lisa's lethal voice.
"Do it, and I'll make sure you'll crawl back to your house not even feeling any single bit of your limbs," Lisa warned. The threat was all it took for Jisoo to retract her legs without a tiny bit of protest. She chuckles nervously as she glances at her friend who's focused on the road ahead.
It was in the buzz of their travel back to their station, passing an overpass train when Lisa decided to break off the lingering silence.
"The woman called last night," she began flatly.
It piqued Jisoo's interest yet end up scoffing, "Psh, good for you, you have the time to cheat." she eyed her friend, and pressed her back against the passenger door facing Lisa, which made Lt. Manoban hissed. "What else do you need Lisa? You have a career-wise fiancée above all she is insanely gorgeous. She has everything you need. You don't need hookups to warm your night!" she throws her friend accusing eyes.
