The night was the night of the yule ball. I was confused, I didn't know if Mattheo even wanted to go. He still hadn't asked me, and the ball was only in a few hours, didn't even have a dress.
Pansy stormed into the dorm.
"The balls tonight!" She squealed.
"I'm aware of that, yes." I said moodily, while rubbing my eyes and sitting up in bed.
"Blaise just asked me." She grinned, completely ignoring my sarcasm.
Then her face went from excitement, to fright. "I don't have a dress!" She gasped dramatically. I stood up and walked over to my wardrobe. She then noticed that this was a one way conversation. She stared at me for a few seconds, instantly knowing what was bothering me.
"Mattheo hasn't asked you." She stated.
"Nope." I confirmed slipping on a t-shirt.
"Well..." She mumbled in thought. "Its not the 1980's, you ask him."
I stood in thought for a moment, and realised she was right. "Yeah..." I agreed.
"Yeah!" She continued to hype me up.
"Yeah!!" I said, walking out of the dorm. Quickly running back in. "I need my shirt." I said awkwardly.I made my way over to the boy's dorm. I knocked. Draco answered.
"Hey bro-"
"What?" He interrupted rudely.
"Is Mattheo here?" I asked.
"No, he left a couple minutes ago, said he was on his way to find you."
"Oh-"
Draco then closed the door in my face.
"Dammit." I mumbled to no one in particular, spinning around. Crashing into someone familiar. My herbology study partner, Zacharias Smith. Zach as I called him. He's a good guy, pretty goofy, but can also be a bit of a jerk sometimes.
"Oh shit. I am so-" I looked up to see who it was. "Oh, it's just you, never mind." I laughed.
"Hey, Y/n!" He smiled.
"Sup?"
"I've been meaning to ask you something..." He began, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "I was wondering if you would like to go to the Yule-"
"Zach, I'm sorry but I'm gonna cut you off there. I can't go with you." I told him in the softest way I could.
"What? Why not? Did someone already ask you?" He questioned.
"I'm going with- with-" I stuttered.
"Me." Mattheo said, walking up to us. He put his arm around me and smirked. Zach rolled his eyes, before walking off.
I turned to face Mattheo. "Hi." I grinned.
"Hey princess." He replied.
"Was that your way of asking me to the dance?" I smirked.
"Should have done it sooner."
"Yes, you should have." I laughed, pulling him in, and pecking him on the lips. Pulling away quickly.
"Save it for the dance, I gotta get back to Pans, who is currently freaking out over a dress." I explained, slipping out of his grip. He grabbed my waist and pulled me back, for a second kiss this one lasting a few seconds longer. Releasing me, and leaving me a bit speechless. He smiled at me with an adoring look. I shook myself out of it, and waved to him before jogging back to the dorm.
I opened the door and Pansy stood in suspense.
"It's on." I confirmed as we both giggled.
"We need dresses!" She repeated crazily.
"Then let's go get some dresses." I replied. Before I knew it, Pansy and I were back in Diagon alley, browsing through shelves upon shelves of dresses. Shopping has never been my thing, but dresses? Definitely not. Pansy understood this, and made it her duty to make sure, I came back with a dress. She found the dress that she loved, and looked really pretty on her, and I'm not just saying that because I have to as her best friend. It genuinely looked amazing. We had been there for almost an hour, but nothing seemed right for me.
"Oh this one! And this one! Or this one!" She said, while pulling dress after dress off the rack, and piling them up in my arms, and if I were some coat hanger.
Then she stopped in her tracks, staring at something. I couldn't quite see what it was, through the towering stack of numerous dresses in my arms.
"What?" I asked curiously.
"That one." she said confidently.
"You found one?" I asked.
"It's beautiful. You need to try it on."
"Oh, I don't know if-"
"You're trying it on."
She began pushing me somewhere. Knocking the dresses out of my hands, and to the dressing rooms. Shoving me into a stall, throwing a dress in after me, and closing the door. I held the dress up, before hesitantly beginning to get changed.
I opened the door. Pansy stayed silent, speechless. She stared at me in complete shock. She put her hands over her mouth, and it looked almost as if her eyes were watering.
"It's stunning." She finally said.
"Oh god, please don't start crying." I chuckled. I thought she was being overdramatic. It was just a dress, but then again, dresses were something I never really got. She grabbed my shoulders and turned me to face the mirror. I admired the dress. Not to sound cocky, but she was right, it was beautiful, and I loved it.
"Wow." Was all I managed to say.
"Let's go buy it." Pansy agreed. And so we did.Time passed really fast, and next thing I knew, Luna Lovegood, Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley, Pans and I were getting ready for the Yule ball in our dorm. Applying one anothers make up, and talking about how we each were, and who we were going with. Surprisingly, I was barely nervous at all, I just wanted to hang out with Mattheo. In case you were wondering;
Luna went with a boy called Padma Patil, who I had never met, but from what Luna told us, he sounded very sweet.
Ginny went with Neville. Also a very sweet boy, but I couldn't really see him and Ginny together.
Hermione went with Victor Krum, a student from one of the other schools, and a player in the tournament. Ginny told Pansy and I not to tell her, but Ron wasn't very happy about this.
I finished Pansy's hair, and we all looked at one another, squealing with excitement. For the record, we all looked gorgeous.
I looked at the clock and realised, we should be on our way.
