Ever since I was a teenager, I have been trained how to be a wife and how to be prepared to be married one day. But one day came too soon for me, I was twenty-two years old still living with my parents. I over heard their conversation one day while I was doing my daily chores. The conversation was about me and how my father told my mother a young man at our school asked for my hand in marriage. He said that he told him that he would think about it and he would get back with him. My father wanted the best for me as his daughter and I knew he always wanted to protect from any person who may want to do any harm to his children. One morning my mother came into my room as I was preparing myself for the day, I get up drink coffee, read scriptures from the Bible, and my day goes from there. She asked me to put on my dress she has gotten me from a woman in our school that makes dresses and sells them. I did as I was told and next thing I knew my parents were taking me to this fancy restaurant downtown to meet the man that asked for my hand in marriage. Being that I am a young woman and not married yet my parents kept a close eye on us at the restaurant all evening. We talked and got to know each other for a bit but in my heart(mind) I asked myself. DO YOU REALLY WANT TO GET MARRIED RIGHT NOW? The gentleman and I went out on three chaperone dates accompanied by my parents, and six months later he told my father he was ready to marry me. My mother sat me down and she talked to me and told me that the man is ready to marry me and that now I am betrothed to him. She told me that she has been preparing me for this day. She taught me how to cook, clean, wash, tend to the house, be a keeper at home, and more. Now it was time to put my training to the test for the challenge of my life. MARRIAGE!!!
