Nari peeked out of the window and down to the first floor. It was hard to see anything going on below, but she hoped that the lack of sounds meant the men weren't anywhere near them. She extended her hands, gripping onto the tree once more as her legs followed.
As she climbed on, she felt the tree shift slightly from his weight. She turned around briefly to see him standing right behind her, balancing on a branch slightly lower than hers. Even in a daunting situation like this, she couldn't help feeling insecure at the fact that she was wearing extremely short shorts and the pervert probably had a clear view of her backside.
It felt like her heart was on hold as she carefully moved through branches.
"Can you hurry up?" Jisung's low voice hissed behind her. "In case you forgot, we're climbing a fucking tree because there are burglars in the house."
"Calm down, you idiot, I don't want to fall—"
As soon as she said the words, her right leg slipped on a particularly thin branch; her hands barely held on as she let out a little yelp. She expected herself to fall, but a warm hand wrapped around her upper torso, pulling her back up against the tree.
Holy crap... Her breathing was ragged as her arms clung dearly onto the tree. His arm was still around her, and now she noticed that he had them under her jacket, pressed against the thin fabric of her tank top. His hands were dangerously close to her—
Heat rose to her cheeks as she used one hand to slap his big arm in disgust— "Get your hands off of me, what the hell!"
She could hear him scoff from behind her. "So you wanna fall?" He threatened. "Is that what you want, because I will drop you—"
He loosened his grip around her and she instantly felt herself slip downwards; she yelped, her free hand now clinging onto his arms as she whisper-screamed, "oh my god stop, wait, don't drop me—"
His arm tightened around her again and she felt her body lifted effortlessly. Her hands scrambled to hold onto the steady wood, her legs feeling for a sturdy footing. She took deep breaths, the aftermath of her near fall clearly still affecting her erratic heartbeats.
After a moment, Jisung pulled his hand away, hovering slightly over her as he said, "hurry up, you're slower than my grandma."
"You jerk."
A few fearful steps later, she managed to climb back through her window, landing on the sweet, stable floor of her bedroom.
Jisung crawled in closely after her, landing gracefully.
Nari took her dead phone. "My phone's dead so we'll use my home phone to call the police." They both walked quietly past her bedroom door and down the stairs.
Nari tiptoed into the living room, peeking sneakily out into the patio area and over at Jisung's place. When she couldn't see anybody, she walked into her kitchen area where her landline phone was situated. Jisung walked casually behind her like none of this was happening at all.
"You said you were going to give this to Mrs. Katsuki."
She barely spared him a glance as she picked up the telephone; she knew he was referring to the now-cold pie on her kitchen counter. "Well, I changed my mind."
She lifted the phone to her ear, but couldn't hear the tone. She looked down at the machine to find it wasn't plugged at all. Seriously? She ducked to try and find the cable; it must've fallen. She could hear low munching behind her.
"Are you eating the pie—" she glared at him as her hands reached out to the floor— "stop eating the pie, you pig!"
He had stuffed a big piece into his mouth. "Your mom's a great cook, how could I not—"
"Well my mom didn't make it for you so you better get your hands off of the pie," she snapped— where was the goddamn cable?!
"Someone's literally breaking into my house right now and you won't let me have a bit of pie?"
She rolled her eyes. "Stop being such a baby, it's probably your fault you're being robbed, I bet you forgot to lock your door or something."
"How stupid do you think I am?" He retorted.
There was a brief pause before she heard the boy scoff beside her. "You know, you're one to talk— your patio door's literally open."
She whipped her head to see what he was talking about.
He's right— her patio door was slightly ajar.
But it shouldn't be.
