It was time, the mob began knocking on the doors of their home. Dressed in all white carrying crosses and hoods all over their faces chanting all manner racist slurs with a name KKK printed firmly on their cloaks. The little boy who was cuddled by his mom underneath the sofa asked why they hated us so much. She could nod her head in silence and urge her child to keep still. Is it because of our skin, mommy? He asked her to stay quiet but tears started rolling down her cheeks. But they have everything don't they? He looked confused but continued. Why is Jesus white, and all his angels are white...what happened to all the black angels? She didn't respond, he continued. Why is it called Blackmail instead of Whitemail? Why is the prettiest princess named Snow white? Why is the president staying in the White House? He persisted despite tears rolling down his cheeks and his voice beginning to crack. We do most of the work, yet they still hate why is that? I wish I was never black! She wipes his tears while putting on a smile for him and says Hush little one, don't hate yourself, They're afraid of what we are...the darkness because they cant see anything in it. Hence they run towards the clear and shining light where no enemies cannot be seen...all we can do now is hope that one day they realize your enemies as well can see you quite clearly under the light. The boy didn't seem convinced by her words but she hugged him tighter and whispered.
It's rather easy to shine in the light, but to glow in the darkness takes mastery
The door finally gives in.
