She was eccentric. She was electrifying. She was everything. She was unforgettable. She had freckles that were like constellations, I could find Pisces, Gemini, and Orion on her cheeks, and her eyes held the universe. She smoked cigarettes claiming that her lungs were black like her hair and her chipped black nails. She smiled so much that you believed that she was pieced together perfectly without one single crack or flaw. She loved the ocean, and maybe that's why her eyes were the color they were because they reflected her attachment. She studied psychology because she thought that if she could understand how the mind works then maybe she'll finally be able to understand herself. She was eccentric. She was electrifying. She was everything. But she was breaking at the seams.

When I look at the sky I think of her. When I see constellations in the stars I think of her. When I see smoke and black fingernail polish I think of her. When I see a pained smile I think of her, and when I see the ocean I think of her and her eyes and how much she loved the God damn water and how she wished she could stay under forever. When I think of crazy I think of her. When I think of intense I think of her. When I think...I think of her.

I think of a girl named Indi.

"Alright, boys, that's enough ruckus for today," my dad said while intruding on our jam session. I rolled my eyes and sat my guitar down. "If we don't leave now you're going to be late for your first day of college," he gave a warm-hearty smile, but I simply sighed.

"It's not the first day, dad, it's just moving in day," I said while stuffing my hands into the pockets of my denim jeans.

"Either way, you don't want to be late," he gave me that look that told me to wrap things up quickly, and I simply nodded and waited for him to go back into the house. I looked at the guys, unsure of what to say or do. We were all heading our separate ways, and the life of the band was dwindling. Greg was heading for technical school to be an electrician, Vince was moving to Michigan for college, and Seth was moving out of town with his girlfriend that was two months pregnant.

"So, I guess this is goodbye," I shifted on my feet a little and scuffed the bottom of my shoes on the concrete.

"Yeah, I guess so," Vince ran his hand through the mop of brown hair on his head. I looked around at the guys and we all shared the same look of distraught and pure sadness. "I'm going to miss you, bro," Vince broke down and pulled me in for a hug catching me completely off-guard. He sniffled and gestured for Greg and Seth to join on the emotional gathering.

"Levi, hurry, sweetie," my mother called out. We all sighed and broke up the hug while trying to regather ourselves.

"Keep in touch," Seth said causing us all to nod.

"Of course, man, and let us know when that baby is coming. He or she can't miss out on our craziness," Greg joked causing Seth to grin from ear to ear.

"Levi!" My dad yelled causing me to groan. I grabbed my guitar and placed it in the black case, and secured it tightly. We all walked out of the garage togther, and we stood in the driveway one last time beside the basketball hoop where we played many 2-on-2 games. My parents were waiting in the mini-van, and they were more than anxious to get going down the road.

"My chariot awaits," I told the boys. We exchanged our final goodbyes and I watched as they left, one by one down their own paths. I frowned and finally slipped inside the car, and I watched as the garage door slowly closed, the drum set glittering one last time.

"Are you excited?" my mom asked with a bright, hopeful grin on her red lips. I gave a half nod and fastened my seat belt, and placed my headphones over my ears. I turned the volume all the way up on my iPod and the music poured out into my ears as we pulled out of the suburban neighborhood where I grew up. I stayed quiet the entire ride, trying not to watch my parents laugh and banter about various topics. I looked at all of the passing sites, wondering what college life was going to be like. I wondered about the professors, the night life, the new friends, and the girls...oh the girls. Girls from various places, different attitudes, hopes, dreams and passions, different physical features, and different stories to share. I even wondered if I would find the one. That's how my parents met, and I wondered if I would get the same fate, or if I would get stuck in a different direction. I looked up and my mom gave me another grin, to which I replied with a half smile--only the corners of my mouth rotated upwards to the slightest degree.
