Slam! That was my locker. I turned around and prepared to venture into the mass of people that made up the student body of East Meridian High School. As I went with the flow of teens, I heard my name.
"Roy! Hey, Roy!" shouted a familiar voice, one that I would know anywhere: my lacrosse pal Mason Charger. Mason was tall and had a thick build. His face had a chiseled jaw-line and was framed by his curly black buzz cut. His cocoa colored skin rippled with muscles, making him seem menacing. In truth, Mason was a great kid, which contradicted his bad boy look.
"Mason! Dude! What's up?" I slapped backs with Mason and then proceeded to loose balance and drop all of my books. I cussed under my breath and knelt down to gather my things. Mason just laughed and playfully kicked at me at I rushed to pick everything up. Just as I was reaching for the last paper, I heard a disgusted squeal followed by mad clacking on the tile floor. As looked up into the face of my girlfriend, Jodie Fellows, as she shuffled over to me in her high heels. She paused next to Mason and, giving him a snooty glare, stepped in front of him.
"Roy! Sweetie! What are you doing on the floor?" Jodie giggled nervously. Jodie was very conscious of her social appearance, and I realized that her boyfriend being sprawled on the floor might not look good to the lipgloss wearing barracudas who apparently classified who was hot and who was, well, not. I scrambled to be feet and put my arm around her shoulders, squeezing her into an embrace, wrapping her in my body. I gazed down towards her eyes and realized that she was not staring at my adoringly like she usually does during this kind,of embrace, but instead she was focusing on something, or someone, walking down the hallway. Quickly she glanced up at me and began a lovey-dovey spiel.
"Roy," she giggled, "Stop it! Not in school!" she said as she nestled in to me. I hadn't done anything inappropriate, I never do. But she continued.
What she did next startled me, but did t surprise me. Jodie reached up and wrapped her arms around my neck. She pulled me towards her and posed her lips, ready to meet mine. She closed her eyes and drew me in closer. I closed me eyes also and waited for our lips to touch. I always get sort of a zing when I kiss Jodie, like a chill up my spine. Her lips met mine and I squeezed her waist. I could tell when she lifted her foot slightly off the ground because her weight shifted more onto my neck, where her arms still clung. I touched her long chestnut hair and she became more passionate. She went for air and returned to my lips, ready for more action. We kissed for only seconds longer, but it felt like forever. She slowly loosed her arms from my neck and I knew the kiss was ending. I slid my hands into her and she pulled away slowly, as if she were savoring the taste of my lips. Although the the kiss hadn't lasted long, it felt like a stretch in time. A stretch where we were the only two people in the hall. However, I quickly realized this was not the case as Jodie reached to stop someone in he hall as soon as my hands slipped our of hers.
"Taylor! Hey! I'm so glad I ran into you. I actually saw you walking down the hall before this sly dog here took me in for a good one," Jodie said as she wrapped her arm around my waist and locked me to her side. I turned just in time to see Mason, jaw slacked, shake off his disbelief and start jogging to class. I guess he had never seen me and Jodie kiss before- or at least never make out. I returned my focus back to Jodie. She was talking to a girl named Taylor Maccabee. She was one of those cute, quiet, stylish girls, the ones who keep to themselves but are totally attractive. She had long, shiny, blonde hair that swung when she walked. Taylor had thin, pink lips and smooth green eyes. I have to say, she was gorgeous. Not that I would take her over Jodie; you see, Taylor and I went out in tenth grade, but it quickly fell apart. her good looks over rule Jodie's shoulder length, chestnut red hair and piercing blues eyes, along with her average height cheerleader figure. However, Taylor just wasn't my type. Taylor was too quiet but Jodie was so easy to talk to-- when she wasn't the one talking. I guess Jodie was still jealously Taylor or thought I still had feelings for her or something , because I'm pretty sure that whole show just then was especially for Taylor, a gift from Jodie.
