The Aftermath of Paris

He sat there, looking out the window as the plane rose higher and higher into the air, the distance between the ground and the heavens growing with each passing second. Sean's leg bounced up and down... He was almost always a bit nervous when taking off and landing... I mean, who isn't?

Some time passed and finally the seatbelt light went out, the announcement overhead saying everyone was free to roam about the cabin, as well as reminding the passengers to keep their masks on of course - first in French, then followed by an English translation.

Sean undid his seatbelt and stood up, carefully moving past his two other seatmates, going from his window seat into the aisle. He glanced over at Lana who sat in the middle of the row across from his own. She looked up at the same time, smiling warmly. Even though he could only see her eyes - he knew that smile anywhere.

They'd found out that they were in the same row, though on different sides, when they boarded. It was nice to have a familiar face to gaze at during this long flight, especially since Rebecca wasn't on this one, breaking up their trio. She'd had to book a flight for the following night because the 2am one was be too much for her since they'd be getting into LA around 3am, Pacific Standard Time.

He returned the smile with his blue eyes before turning and making his way to the lavatory at the rear of the aircraft.

On his way back to his seat a few minutes later, he looked back to Lana's row, but she wasn't there. His brow furrowed in confusion, but he turned into his aisle nonetheless...and there she was.

Lana. Sitting in the middle seat of his row.

He paused for a second before moving to go back to his seat, scooting past her. Once he'd sat back down, he turned to face her, "What do you think you're doing?" he chuckled.

"Well, it's a long flight and we have to entertain ourselves somehow...I figured having you as company was the best solution, so I asked the woman sitting here if she'd trade seats with me and she gladly switched," she explained with a bright smile.

He grinned, "I can't say that it's not a pleasant surprise."

She beamed at him at his approval and they began to chat away.

After about six hours or so of laughing and talking to pass the time, snacks here and there, the sleepiness began hitting Sean. The pitch-black sky wasn't helping him fight it either, as it was the middle of the night. He'd even stayed up all night so he could sleep on the flight. His yawn in the middle of their conversation made Lana laugh. "Someone's tired."

"Maybe just a bit... The convention was a blast, but I'm exhausted," he admitted with a chuckle.

"Then get some rest. I promise I won't be offended," she winked.

"Alright, alright, thank you," Sean replied, "You should get some rest too, you were going nonstop this weekend."

"Nah, I'm okay, maybe later," she said leaning down to take out a book from her carry-on, laying her sweater over her lap as a makeshift blanket.

"Well, enjoy your book," he commented before adjusting himself in his seat to face a bit towards the window, closing his eyes.

"Sweet dreams," Lana whispered and patted his leg lightly. Sean smiled softly to himself and relaxed his body. It wasn't long before he'd fallen fast asleep.

Despite staying up all night, Sean still had trouble sleeping. He woke up after only 45 minutes or so of napping. He opened his eyes, taking a few seconds to take in his surroundings. He then became aware of a weight on his shoulder and turned his head to the left to see Lana sleeping soundly on him. Her head was laying against his shoulder, her body slightly curled up into him, the arm rest now up so as not to separate them.
