I paced through the forest, running as fast as I could. I was unsure of where I was going since I'd never been out of the village.

All I knew about the outside world was through books, maps, stories, and experiences of others. It was strange to think about the different lands that existed—like a land fully covered in sand. What did they call it? Right—a desert.

I smiled, getting excited by all the adventures I could possibly go on. To places I didn't even think were real.

But there was something more important currently at hand—Hangetsu; or rather his well-being. I didn't know his exact location. But, because of the letter from Tsurugi, I knew he was in the unnamed land connected to the Land of Fire. The bad thing about that was I would have to cross the ocean that was in between the Land of Water and the Land of Fire.

I continuously ran, trying to process my thoughts. I definitely can't swim there. I'll need some type of transportation. I thought, dashing in the forest.

I hopped from branch to branch at top speed with great strength, causing some of them to snap over and break.

I didn't plan on taking a break until I reached the shore. I wanted to eliminate the chances of the Mist shinobi catching up to me.

POV - Itachi:

As usual, Kisame and I were used as pawns—by Pain and our respective villages. I'd gotten used to that fact, though. After all, each shinobi is merely there to be used as a tool by those at a higher rank. It's unavoidable—at least in the current shinobi world. We don't matter unless we prove to be powerful.

"Ugh. This is annoying. There aren't any Hidden Mist shinobi around," Kisame moped. I rolled my eyes, not caring about the mission we were assigned by Pain. To be fair, I didn't care about any of the missions. But I still completed them.

POV - Y/n:

I didn't know how long I ran. It could've been hours. I was huffing, unable to breathe properly. But, I had finally reached the shore. I was crouched over. My hands were on my knees as I tried to catch my breath.

There was a beach, similar to the one back in Kirigakure. But this one was vast, unlike the small little beach we had. And for the first time, I saw the ocean. Not from pictures or drawings, but in person. It was the real ocean. The one that supposedly tasted like salt. The one I learned about in class. The one I could finally jump into to feel the cold and refreshing water.

My feet sunk into the hot sand. Unlike the sand in Kirigakure, this sand was scorching. It was nice experiencing something new. Seashells—that's what I think they may be—laid on the ground. They were of different sizes and colors. Some were even shaped differently.

I grabbed a few from the sand, examining them closely. It felt childish, but I was truly enjoying all of this. I wanted to take it all in before I had to go to the unnamed land.

I fell back straight into the burning sand, making a snow angel—I mean a sand angel. Then, I went to the water, plunging straight into the crystal clear and salty ocean. It was cold. I giggled cheerfully. I swallowed some of the ocean water, curious to know if it was actually salty. And it was. Much saltier than I was expecting. I spat it out.

"Overseasoned—" I thought. I continued to play in the water like a five-year-old.

I failed to notice the people that weren't too far away. They were lined up beside a ship. And next to the ship, there was one large booth.

I got out of the water and walked over to the ship. The sand was still burning my feet but it felt cooler than before. I tried to wiggle around to dry myself off. I should've brought extra clothes. Why did I leave without packing?
