꒰♡꒱ chapter one !!

(nobody's pov)

Y/n was sitting at a table in a nearby Starbucks a few blocks down from their apartment. Y/n was very mixed when it came to coffee, some days they liked it and some days they didn't, but they weren't there just for a drink and a small snack. They were waiting for their friend. A friend named F/n. Y/n really liked F/n and always tried to hang out with them, well when Y/n wasn't busy with their lousy job as a retail cashier that made them tired everyday once they got home. At least it paid well and they were able to pay bills and such.

Y/n sat back, smelling the fresh smell of coffee brewing and the delicious pastries on display. The sweet combination of smells was really nice. Coffee shops always had a smell to them, either being delightful or unpleasant, but most of the time being delightful.

Y/n rested their head on their palm as they waited for their friend. Y/n looked across the shop to keep them busy. At the front of the building there was a big window showing the outside world, letting the sunlight into the place. It was getting a little cloudy out there as well, making the outside seem dim. The place wasn't crowded as usual, any other day there would be a big line and people rushing in and out to get their daily cappuccino to have enough energy to go to work. Speaking of work, it was Y/n's day off today since it was Saturday. Y/n had the weekends off which worked for them, they wouldn't have to endure their job every week.

As soon as Y/n was about to zone out some more, F/n finally came in through the front shop door, making Y/n move their eyes over to them and waving. They had a big smile pasted on their face as they walked on the squeaky clean floor over to the table Y/n was sitting at. As soon as they sat down, Y/n noticed they were holding a white colored cube shaped box with a red bow on top of it. It looked like a gift of some sort.

"Hey. How are you Y/n?" F/n asked as they pushed the box aside and crossed their arms on the table.

"I'm doing good. How about you?" Y/n responded.

"I'm doing good too. I took the bus here since my car needed repairing. There was a little traffic." F/n said, looking out the window to see the bus stop a street down. Y/n took the bus mostly all the time, whenever they needed to go to work or to home. If they needed to get groceries or a take out meal. Sometimes they decided to walk the way, but ended up resorting to the bus more often.

"Wait, you got a car?" Y/n questioned as they laid their arms on the table.

"Yeah, you didn't know?" F/n said with a slight tone of confusion in their voice.

"Nah, I didn't. I would like to see it sometime!" Y/n said.

"Yep, I would even let you drive it." F/n said, sounding a little optimistic.

"Are you sure? I think I would have a panic attack behind the wheel. I don't even have my license yet." Y/n said with a small chuckle.

"Well alright. Whatever suits you." F/n said back, chuckling as well.

"Um, I see you got a box there, who is it for?" Y/n asks, finally bringing attention to the white box.

"Oh, it's for you actually! I know your birthday is a while away, but I wanted to get you something." F/n said with a smile as they shifted the cube shaped box over to Y/n.

"Go ahead and open it!" F/n anticipated as they sat up, waiting for Y/n to open their gift.

Y/n didn't know what was in there. They were surprised that they got a gift in the first place, but they appreciated the offering of course. Y/n started to open the box. They took off the red bow and lifted the top off. When Y/n looked inside the box, there was a smaller rectangular box wrapped in plastic and had the words "assorted chocolates" on the front of it. And some big, green soft thing pushed to the side, Y/n pulled out the box first. The box had a dark brown and yellow pattern all around it. It even had a bow which was the same color as the one on top of the gift box.

"Oh, you got me chocolates?" Y/n said as they looked up to see their smiling friend.

"Yep! Sorry if it's plain or not good, I kind of didn't know what to give you at first." F/n admitted as they looked down onto the table and back up at Y/n.

"But, I promise I'll have more for your birthday!" F/n promised with a cheery tone.

"Oh no. It's alright. I love chocolates." Y/n said taking the chocolate box out and observing it a little.

Y/n looked back down at the big and green soft thing left in the box. Y/n pulled it out and was revealed to actually be a plushie, an avocado plushie too.

"Oh, you got me a plushie?" Y/n questioned as they looked at the soft fruit in their hand. The brown seed had a cute blushing face while the inner part of it had little soft arms and legs attached to it.

"Oh yeah, I forgot. I was at the mall and I saw it in front of one of the store windows. It looked really cute and I thought it'd be nice to give it to you. You like it?" F/n responded as they smiled some more.

"Yeah I do. I think it looks cute!" Y/n said with a smile, looking at the adorable plushie.

"Thank you so much F/n. Means a lot." Y/n said with an even bigger smile, hugging the plushie a little and setting it aside with the delicious looking chocolates. They set the main gift box aside as well.

"Of course! No problem. Glad you like them." F/n responded.

Y/n nodded their head as they looked back at their gifts.

"Ooh, how about I get you and me a Frappuccino?" F/n suggested, standing up and leaning on the table.

"I mean, I wouldn't mind one." said Y/n, giving a small shrug.

"Cool. I'll get a Java chip for both of us." F/n said as they walked over to the counter.

"Sounds cool!" Y/n spoke as they saw them go up to make the orders. Y/n was glad they could have a friend like them. They were super caring and they appreciated the things they did. Y/n might've felt they don't deserve this much, but F/n always reassured them that it was fine.

After a few minutes, F/n came back with the cold coffee drinks. The drinks were dark brown with whipped cream and a drizzle of mocha on top. Green straws poking out the plastic cup and through the hole on top of the lid.

"Here you go. Enjoy, heh." F/n said with a slight chuckle, setting both the drinks on the table. Before F/n could sit back down in their seat, a notification came from their cell phone in their pants pocket. F/n pulled their phone out of the pocket and saw what was appearing.

"Shit. I got to go. I got a message from my boss. I have to fill in at work today. Really sorry, glad I got this though." F/n announced with a slight chuckle at the end. They later put their phone back in their pocket.

"Aw, bummer. It's alright though. Text me when you're done alright?" Y/n asked as they stood up and stretched a little.

"I will, see ya soon." Y/n said as they gave F/n a slight hug.

"See you soon. Make sure to be safe, alright?" F/n said, giving Y/n a bigger hug.

"Bye, F/n. You too." Y/n said.

As soon as F/n finished saying bye, they picked up their Frappuccino and strolled over to the door, turning around and giving a small wave. They walked backwards for a little before turning around and accidentally bumping into someone opening the door.

"Oh! Excuse me, I'm really about that." F/n quickly apologized, as they moved aside, onto the sidewalk outside with the drink still in their hand.

"Oh, don't worry about it, it's ok." the stranger said as they slightly nodded, their voice sounded raspy but lighthearted at the same time. They soon sat down at a table near the front door of the shop. They had a brown hat that covered their eyes and long, fluffy green hair that was close to their shoulders. Y/n thought they seemed interesting.

Y/n moved their eyes back to the outside. Seeing the second F/n walked out of Y/n's view. They must've gone down to the bus stop again. Y/n looked back down at their coffee and gave it a sip, tasting a bombard of flavors. They looked over to see the gifts they received. Seeing all this, made Y/n like F/n even more. They were such a great friend.
