Luke regrets not telling Michael how he feels

Losing someone you love is never fun. One person who knew that well was Luke.

Michael had only been 20 when he started to get really sick. He frequently complained of headaches while on stage, which almost caused him to pass out on many occasions. After a few months of this happening, he was put in the hospital because of a migraine so bad, he cried for hours, groaning on about how much it really hurt. His band mates knew something was seriously wrong then, because Michael never cried.

After the headaches came more and more symptoms, each new one causing the poor boy to constantly be on drugs to try and take the pain away. Finally, his body just shut down, and no one could figure out exactly what had caused it.

As for any celebrity who passes, there was a huge response to the news. Fans of the boys were devastated; one of the four boys they spent their time obsessing over had died. To them, they weren't 5 Seconds of Summer anymore. They were just just Ashton, Calum, and Luke.

Out of the three remaining band mates, Luke was definitely taking it the hardest. Calum and Ashton knew how he was feeling, but they understood that he was most likely going to be down for a while. They would be the same way if they were in the same boat as Luke.

For years, Luke had been developing a crush on Michael, and it kept getting bigger and bigger until he realized that he loved Michael. He tried to keep it to himself, not wanting to be considered weird if any of his friends found out. Sure, they knew he was gay, but having a crush on your best friend was weird. Ashton and Calum had eventually found out, and told him countless times to just tell Michael how he felt. They told him the worst thing that could happen is Michael wouldn't feel the same about him, but Luke never went through with it. He was too scared that Michael would hate him.

Oh , how he wished that he had listened to his friends.

Sydney was the best place to play. With a crazy amount of fans who only brought good energy, it was obvious why the 5SOS boys enjoyed it so much. You could always tell just how happy the boys were when they played in the Sydney area. It was their home, it was familiar. They got to see their families for a day or two, and spend time together with the people they loved. Being in Sydney was always a fun time. But this time, it wasn't enough to make Luke happy.

It was the first time they had played for Sydney since Michael died, which was different. Michael was always the one who pumped them up for shows; he had this energy to him that the others couldn't even fathom, even with how hyper they all were anyways. He got hyped up easily and the energy radiating from him rubbed off on them and suddenly there were four man-children running around backstage, shouting things at each other and pulling pranks and entertaining the crew who were trying to make sure everything was perfect for the show.

This time, it was silent. Luke, Calum and Ashton were sitting backstage quietly, staring at the wall or texting family to see when they were going to be there.

Luke sighed, almost inaudibly, wondering how the night would turn out. He had been dreading this day for the past few weeks. It was bad enough having to play concerts without Michael anywhere else, but in their hometown it was worse. Playing without Michael in the place they came from was going to be torture now. Michael was always happier in Sydney; he played with more energy, he smiled a lot more, and he interacted with the fans better. Without him, Luke wouldn't have anyone to run down the catwalk with and play the others guitar.
