"Morning babe..." Cara's husband says as he stretches his arms and punches the air. The bed is filled with cans of alcohol. "If your going to drink, please Danny, put the cans in the trash." Cara moans, rolling over to smother her face in her pillow. "You didn't care last night." Danny mutters. Cara sighs and hops out of bed. "I can't remember last night." Cara says as she grabs her dressing gown and heads for the shower. "Great! Green crayons totally match the bathroom walls." Cara whispers to herself as she stares at the smiley faces on the walls that Melanie drew. Cara steps in the shower and is shocked at the sight of the triplets dropping their dummies down the plug hole. "No!" Cara drastically yells. The triplets start to cry as their dummies are lost down the plug hole. Cara strangles the air and grits her teeth. She carries the triplets and drops them off at the dining room. "Swing on the chandelier or something, just... Don't annoy me today, it's Melanie's school play and I NEED to get ready." The triplets nod and run off. Cara finally gets into the shower, when she gets out Melanie has her arms crossed and her sassy face has struck again. "Baby? What's the matter?" Cara asks tidying up Melanie's bed hair. "Don't touch my hair woman! I'm going for the back combed look. It's ten to nine, school starts at nine and it takes fifteen minutes to get there! WE ARE LATE!" Melanie screeches. "Okay, princess get dressed and... We'll have to miss breakfast this morning." Cara says and rushes to her wardrobe. "No way! Breakfast gets you started in the morning and I can't be falling asleep in class!" Melanie snaps her fingers. "I thought you didn't care about class?" Cara confusingly asks. "Hello?! Woman! I need to keep my popularity up! More talking equals more friends, I can do math." Melanie swishes her hair and struts back to her room to get dressed. Cara raises her eyebrows and grabs a white lace dress with a brown belt and navy blue jacket, matched with sandals, a turquoise necklace, earrings and bracelet, with her hair up in a messy bun. "Whoa! Mama!" Danny's bellows and wolf whistles. Cara sarcastically smiles and drags Melanie to the car. "Girl! You can't be dragging me about! Carry me." Melanie demands. "The car is literally two metres away!" Cara bursts out saying. Melanie huffs, crosses her arms and walks to the car. "I'm not opening the door for you, just get in." Cara says. Melanie screams and screams... "Fine!" Cara yells and opens the door for Melanie. Cara plonks herself in the car and Melanie is ten minutes late. "When I get back home you are dead, you hear me? Dead!" Melanie screeches. A mother walks by and is disgusted by the way Cara is letting Melanie talk to her. Cara holds Melanie's hand and takes her into school, Cara goes to give Melanie a "good luck" hug for the school play but Melanie resists and jogs off shouting to everyone, "I'm here! I'm here! Your ladyship is here, worry no more!" Cara laughs and gets back into the car. Cara stops at a doughnut shop and gets a Rainbow Whizz doughnut coated with strawberry frosting and banana sprinkles. Cara closes her eyes and imagines her running in slow motion through a meadow of lollipops, singing gummy bears and dancing rainbows. When she opens her eyes Cara realises that she's still in the rusty and empty doughnut shop. "I thought kids shops were supposed to be happy." Cara mutters. "Now, why would you say such a thing?" The Indian shop owner sits down next to Cara and asks. "Kids are so full of joy." Cara answers and looks up to him. "Not every child. Children come in all different shapes and sizes. My Ravi is a shy child, not very social, unlike me." The shop owner chuckles and Cara smiles. "You should meet my little angel..." Cara tells him. "Oh! Is she a handful?" The shop owner seriously asks. "Yes!" Cara shouts. "I mean... Yes. She is. No matter what I do, what I say, she thinks I'm her slave." A tear sweeps down Cara's face. The shop owner pats Cara on the back. "I've got to get back to work." The shop owner leaves Cara in tears and gets back behind the counter. Cara grabs her handbag and- "Some problems are better to run away from." The shop owner says. Cara doesn't look back and runs to her car. Turns on the ignition. Wipes her tears. Slams her foot on the pedal and drives away, far away, from everyone.
