CHAPTER 1
The Beginning
"What the hell is going on here?" Tanong ni Lily sa dalawang bata na naabutan nyang nagbabatuhan. Tila ba hinalughog ng magnanakaw ang kwarto sa nagkalat na mga gamit at wasak na mga figurines.
"Sorry Aunty" The boy bowed at Lily who is very furious. Mabuti nalamang at magalang ang batang lalaki at tapat sa kaniyang paghingi ng tawad kahit na bakas sa kaniyang mukha ang dungis at gasgas galing sa mga nagkalat na bagay sa kwarto ng kaniyang pamangkin na si Uerah.
"What?!" Hindi makapaniwalang tanong nito at aamba pang babatuhin ng babasaging angel figurine si Xerxus.
"Now you are playing innocent, what a bastard!" Uerah shouted at the boy.
"Uerah! your manners!" Saway ni Lily sa batang si Uerah na kulang nalang ay sumabog ang mukha sa inis.
"Aunt Lily trust me, Kerzi's the one who started this all, that stupid has a courage to tell me that my Mama will never come back" Maluha luhang saad ni Uerah habang masama ang tingin sa batang lalaki.
Natahimik si Lily at lumapit sa batang lalaki. "Is that true, Xerxus?" She ask the boy.
"Yes, but I just hear it from Uncle Jo, he told everyone from the other room that Uerah's mom will never come back because she got pregnant by a mere gardener" Parabang nabuhusan ng kumukulong mantika si Lily ng marinig iyon kay Xerxus.
The boy was right, Her sister in law will never come back because of an affair with their family gardener. "Aunty you're hurting me" nagising sya sa katotohanan at binitawan ang braso ni Xerxus. Kaagad nyang nilingon ang nagiisang pamangkin na si Uerah.
"U-uerah that ---" she stuttered.
"It's not true, right?" Uerah smiled despite of the truth scraping her skin alive.
"It's true" lumingon si Uerah ng marinig ang boses ni Don Poncio, ang Chairman ng West Palm Firm, at ang namumuno sa Pamilyang Kanluran.
"Lily take Xerxus out of here... "Marahan syang umupo sa sofa at humipak ng tabacco.
"I will talk with this child alone." Utos ni Don Poncio sa kaniyang pinaka batang anak na si Lily. kaagad naman lumabas ng kwarto kasama si Xerxus.
"Your Mom is a bitch who loves to fuck around, you are lucky that I am your grandfather after tons of DNA test. But I am still doubtful because of your complete ignorance maybe you got it all from Carmela"
The voice of her grandfather still echoed around Uerah's ear even a after decade. But now, he is bedridden and a machine only supports his life, she can't hide her smile. Uerah suffered al lot from this old man, which turn her into a greedy and manipulative monster.
"I know you can still hear me, Don Poncio" She whispered to his ears.
"Do you still deserve to live?" She asked and hold his wrinkled hand. He traced the blue-bluee green veins up to his arms.
"You first raped and killed my mother to silence your sin" She said as she play with his grandfathers fingers who used to beat her.
"Second, you killed Aunt Lily and Uncle Jo because they tried to separate themselves from you ." ngumiti si Uerah at unti-unting tinanggal ang oximeter sa daliri ng matanda.
