Simon sat beside me, "What is she doing?" pointing at Stephanie. She was trying to eavesdrop on people like a stalker.

"I don't know, honestly," covering my laugh with my hand, so she won't hear me laughing at her. Speaking of which, Simon's here. Maybe he knows a way for me to talk to Mason. But, what kind of excuse should I use?

'I'm trying to make connections?' No

'I want to know him better?' For what?

'I like him?' I'm gay

'Because I need money?' Okay, that's a fact.

"By the way, is Mason here?" I asked Simon carefully. He tilted her head, questioning me.

"I think so. Why?"

"I needed money," he looked at me in disbelieve. I told him that I needed money because my dad couldn't help me with my tuition anymore.

"Shit," he slumped his shoulders, "I'm sorry to hear that, but are you sure with this?" I nodded. Well, not really. Quite scared, though. I can't tell Stephanie about this, or she'll freak out. I know she doesn't want me to get involved deeper.

"I'm going to warn you if you start to be a dealer. First, you must know that we are the enemy of the police. Second, you can go to jail. I remember someone got caught by the police, and the school expelled him. I know you needed money soo bad as I do, but please think about it again."

I nodded again, "I know that, Simon, I'm ready."

Then, Simon led me towards Mason outside. I saw Mason playing beer pong with his friends. I waited for Simon to finish whispering something to Mason to give me a chance to get involved in dealing drugs. Mason glanced at me for a moment and approached me. Oh shit, here we go.

"You must be Cathleen. I'm Mason," he gave me his hand, and I shook it, "I heard from Simon that you needed money?"

I nodded in agreement.

"Well, I can help you with that. But, I needed you to show me that you're worth the trust."

"Like what?"

"Breaking rules, a crucial rule that you might get expelled if you have done it," he shrugged, "I need to know how wild you are- not in bed. Just do anything crazy that would show me that you're worth the time. Especially you're a girl. You would be the first if you passed the test." He winked at me

If I need to do that to gain his trust, I'm going to get mentally ill.

"I'll give you a week, don't forget," he left and continued playing beer pong with his friends.

Simon approached me and asked me what Mason said. I just replied, "He's crazy. Is he like this?" Simon nodded like he knew what I was talking about.

"He gave you a test, right?" he whispered, and I nodded, "so, what are you gonna do?"

I shrugged and went back into the house. What am I going to do? My tuition is on the line here, and I need to do crazy stuff to get Mason's trust.

I looked for Stephanie, and I found her still stalking someone. I scared her from behind, which made her jump. I laughed along with Simon, "You're worse than a pocket thief Steph."

Stephanie's cheeks went red because of embarrassment, "Shut up, Simon," she grabbed my hand and led me outside.

"You can't use that tone to your upperclassman, Stephanie!" Simon screamed as we walked through the door.

We stopped in the middle of the yard, "Kate, I saw you talking to Mason. Now, tell me what he has spoken to you." she whispered to me, waiting for info.
