Hair Clip🎀 Kanao x Reader

You were younger sister of Aoi Kanzaki. You, Y/n Kanzaki, was slightly younger than your older sister.

You both were taken in by the Kocho sisters and worked around the flower estate helping injured people and learning about medicines, but when you heard the Kocho sisters brought home a new little girl you both were excited.

You didn't get to see her just yet because she was dirty and covered with flees but when you did you did it without anyone looking.

You noticed the girl sitting on the engawa of the garden just looking around.

You took this opportunity to greet her.

"Hello!" You said standing near her.

"..." She didn't respond.

"What's your name!" You asked her.

"..." The girl still didn't talk.

"I'm Y/n!" You greeted.

"It's nice to meet you."

"..." No response.

'Can she not talk?'

At this point you were confused. Why wasn't she speaking? Did she not want to? Could she not speak?

You then saw her pick up a coin and flip it around.

She struggled while flipping it so I helped her pick it back up.

When she placed it on her hand and opened to reveal it you peaked over to see the work 'Heads' on the coin.

"It's heads! What does that mean?" I asked her.

She opened her mouth and slowly but surely started to speak.

"H-...he..hello..." She whispered. It was hard to understand when she was whispering so quietly.

"I..I..a-am...ka..ka..kanao..." After a while she spoke what she wanted and then you smiled.

"Kanao?! Such a pretty name!" You responded.

Days went by when you would spend time with Kanao. You talk with her and help her with things, and you even teach her about stuff but when the death of Kanae Kocho came everyone was upset.

You and Aoi were crying while Naho, Kiyo, and Sumi cried as well.

Shinobu was the most grieved since she was her blood related sister, but Kanao just stood there in place she was sweating and nervous not knowing what to do. She didn't know how to feel and that worried me a bit.

Your POV:

After the funeral we all went home and continued on with our chores.

Shinobu started to teach me and Aoi more complex medicine and nursing materials so I could be ready for anything.

I got a 30 minute break so I decided to find Kanao.

I then noticed she was in the old room of where Kanae lived and I saw she was putting something in her hair.

It was the hair clip Kanae wore. One of them at least.

The pink and green styled colored clip.

I had a f/c Sf/c Colored hair clip but I remover the old Pink and Orange hair click Kanao first wore.

'Why is she changing hair clips?..' I wondered in my mind. I then noticed she was praying?

Kanao didn't know how or what to feel at times like these so she did what others did I was sort of surprised to see that she was praying.

when she turned to see me peak through the door.

"Hello.." I said.

"Sorry for intruding.." I said.

"C..come in.." She said.

I was surprised to hear her say it so I walked in the room.

"Why are you wearing that hair piece?" I asked her.

Kanao didn't immediately responde and kept quiet for a moment.

Her cheeks were a little pink and I could tell she was nervous.

I didn't what to do to make her feel awkward but i could also tell she was trying to care.

I reached in the dresser drawer and picked up the second hair piece Kanae wore as well. I took out my old one and put in the new one.

Like Kanao I also had a side ponytail so we could match except mine was on the left.

"See! Now we both can show that we remember her!" I smiled at her with enthusiasm.

"Even if you don't know know how to feel. I'll be here to help you!" Kanaos cheeks were tinted pink and she smiled.

I then hugged her and she hugged back.

Somewhere behind the door though was a purple butterfly smiling at the scene before her.
