Donny Harrison is a new history teacher at his town's local high school.

He has successfully gotten through his first school year as a teacher, and he was having a nice summer break.

School is about to start up soon so he decided to go to his favorite bookstore for interesting history books or memoirs to show his students.

He entered the bookstore and the cashier greeted him with a warm smile. He smiled back and continued walking to his favorite section: History.

He looked through the books, checking out a small portion of them to see if it's what he wanted. A good while passed and he couldn't quite find what he wanted.

Suddenly, at the corner of his eyes he saw a man, fully dressed in a WW1 uniform, walking into the store. Donny, being the history nerd he is, decided to take a better look at the man.

It's not uncommon to see soldiers from wars that happened long ago who have not aged even a little but Donny is very interested in them as he is a history teacher.

The man seems to have a nice build, he was a bit taller than Donny and he had bandages on his cheek and nose, as well as a cut on the left side of his lips. He looked a tiny bit older than Donny and his hair was messy, Donny could tell he didn't quite care to comb it thoroughly. Donny smiled, he found the soldier quite attractive.

Since he was interested in learning from the man as well as being interested in his appearance in general, he decided to approach him.

"Uh- Hey there! Do you need any help?" Donny asked. The other man jumped a little out of surprise. "Oh! Hi! Sorry, I was a little lost in thought." The soldier replied with a small nervous laugh. His voice was louder than Donny had expected, which surprised him a little. Donny smiled at the man. "What are you looking for? If you don't mind me asking." The other man looked through the books and sighed.

"Well to be honest, I'm not sure. I want to read more but I don't really know what to read." The soldier replied, seemingly embarrassed. "That's alright!" Donny chuckled. "I could help you look if you'd like." The soldier smiled. "That'd be great." He replies.

The two men looked around for a book that might interest the soldier, and as they're looking around, Donny decided to bring up some questions he wanted to ask the man when he approached him. "So, Uh, I noticed you're wearing a uniform. Did you fight in the Great War?" Donny asked, The soldier glanced at him and nodded. "Yeah, I'm surprised you recognize where my uniform is from!" The man replied happily. "Well, I'm really interested in history. I even majored in history in college." Donny replied. "That's awesome! I haven't met a lot of people who like history." The taller man smiled. "You know, speaking of studying history..." The man started as Donny raised an eyebrow. "I've wanted to be one of those volunteers that teach students history and all through my experiences." The soldier said, Donny's face lit up. "Oh! I'm actually a history teacher at the local high school! I could try to get you that volunteer position." Donny said excitedly. The soldier's face lit up. "That'd be amazing!" He replied. Donny chuckled.

"You can drop by the school tomorrow. Here's my contacts." Donny smiled as he handed the man his business card. "You have a business card?" The man asked as he looked at the card. "Oh- uhm, yeah. I guess it's something I picked up from my dad." Donny chuckled nervously. "He's a businessman." He added. The soldier chuckled.

"Donny huh?" The soldier said as Donny raised an eyebrow. "Oh! Right. I never introduced myself." Donny cleared his throat. "I'm Donny. Donny Harrison." He said as he reached out a hand. The soldier accepted his hand and shook it. "Jerry Canne." He replied.

"Funny name." Donny jokes. The soldier smiles. "Well, Can't blame my parents. Jerrycans weren't a thing 'til the 30's" The soldier, who Donny now knows as Jerry, replied.

"Do you have a number I can call you with?" Donny asked, pulling out his phone. "Uh, well, I don't have a cellphone... But I do have a landline." Jerry answered. "That'll do." Donny replies as Jerry starts telling him his landline number.

"Uh, How do you spell your last name?" Donny asked. Jerry chuckled. "It's C-A-N-N-E" He answers. "Okay, thanks." Donny said as he put his number in his contacts. "Well, now when you call, I'll know it's you." Jerry smiled at that. "That's good." He replies.

"Ah, I should go, I went to work by bus today, I'll miss the last one." Donny sighed as he looked at his watch. "See you at the school, Mr. Canne." Donny said, as he walked past the man and waved as he exited the store. Jerry smiled and waved back.
