It was around 10:15 pm and Akaashi was already half asleep. It was a stormy Tuesday night and the only sound was the steady pad of raindrops hitting the pavement outside and the crack of thunder every once in a while. Akaashi always liked the rain. It was calm and gentle like a parent cleaning out a kid's scraped knee.

The calm was interrupted by someone calling him. He groaned, getting his butt up and taking the call.

"Hello?" Akaashi asked in a tired voice. There was shuffling on the other end. He checked the caller. I was.. Bokuto? There was still no answer on the other end so he figured he would ask the only one who could understand what's going on and actually help. Futakuchi.

Akaashi
I'm sorry to be bothering you right now but Bokuto just called me and he's not responding. Is there anything I should know?

Futakuchi
He's afraid of thunder storms

Futakuchi
He doesn't calm down without physical help so I would go to his house

Futakuchi
I sent you his address so move out solder

Akaashi
Thank you?

Akaashi just now realized that making friends with those two weirdos might have been a mistake. Who cares? It's time to sneak out the window and help out a friend.

"Bokuto, I'm coming to your house so just hang in there. If you want I can stay on the phone with you until I get there." Akaashi spoke softly to the other boy. He was trying to get a foothold on the window below his. He had an okay plan. First, somehow climb down without his dad noticing. Then, run to Bokuto who doesn't sound like he's doing so well right now.

"Hey Bokuto?" Akaashi spoke softly into the receiver, "I need you to count the orange things in your room." There was a weak hum on the other end. Akaashi started jogging to Bokuto's house. He could feel the cold rain soak through his skin. The wind from jogging made him shiver. Bokuto better have warm clothes.

After a while there was a small "Fifteen." Through the phone. Akaashi was relieved because he was almost at Bokuto's door. (Akaashi's got them good legs) Akaashi tore up the stairs of Bokuto's porch. He was about to knock but the front door was open. What the hell?! He walked in to find a man being comforted by a woman. He looked scared. Then lightning struck fallowed by the huge crash of thunder. The man shook in his fetus position. The woman looked at Akaashi and quickly pointed towards the stairs.

"First door on the left," she said simply. Akaashi nodded and ran up the stairs—almost tripping on the carpet—and slowly pushed Bokuto's door open. A teary Bokuto met his gaze. Akaashi rushed over to his friend and hugged him firmly.

"It's ok, look at me. You're safe and everyone else is too." Bokuto's glistening eyes looked into Akaashi's. The owl hugged him back with so much force it almost knocked the poor sleep deprived boy over. Bokuto nuzzled his face into Akaashi's chest.

"Thanks 'Kaashi.." a week voice came from a not so week spiker. Akaashi rested his head on Bokuto's surprisingly soft hair.

They just stayed there

Akaashi went home when the storm subsided. Wrapped up in his blankets. The world was once again warm and dry. Bokuto would forget about it by morning and Akaashi's soaked clothes would get washed around the end of the week. Little did Akaashi Keiji know that he was going to have a ton of more late night adventures...

Hope you liked it! I worked really hard on this chapter because I think it's important to flesh out all of the characters. Not just the main ones. Also, who doesn't love a little Bokuaka? I love you guys! Thanks for reading!
