The sun was just barely peeking from behind the tall windswept trees clothed in white, bare of any green. Just white, white as far as the eyes could perceive.
The rolling December sky was leaden and moon-washed, a cooler harbinger of winter that is, with icy tendrils of air nipping at the windows; dead leaves and an abandoned summer, forgotten as a dirty grey takes over, with wind delectably scratching and whispering along lonely trees.
Yet, the monotony was soothing in a way as Taehyung watches the sky drift to a much darker shade of grey, slowly and steadily blanketing it with undertones of blue.
The little family of four were all done preparing for the two-week long break, and Taehyung finds himself stretching his back, especially his limbs in order to relieve them of any tension, shutting the boot of the car with a small huff.
"Phew, all done. Now scramble in, girls."
"Tae, you've got some jam on your lips, silly." Jungkook points out, and when asked for a bit of help, he offers an eye roll before removing his mitten and wiping it off for the elder.
Truth be told, though he concealed a ton of stuff, he loved doing such small things for Taehyung, it made him feel giddy inside. But boy was he adamant on not wanting to be very vocal about it.
"Thank you, darling. Are you driving or me?"
"I'll do it this time," answers Jungkook as he snatches hold of the car keys from the elder's pocket, "You're a dick when you drive and take complete control over the Bluetooth system."
"Excuse you but my music choice is world-class." Taehyung states, offended.
"Yeah? Well that's three is to one 'cause me and the girls think otherwise. Your preference of indie music is terrible and it shows."
"Again, excuse you." Taehyung glares at the younger as he settles into his seat, buckling his seatbelt and getting all comfy before returning back to their petty argument.
"Well, Cape Town is the best and you cannot prove to me otherwise."
"Yeah?" Jungkook smirks as he starts the engine before shifting the clutch and reversing from the garage, and into the newly shoved pathway, rather bumpy and slippery for him but nonetheless, carries on like it's nothing for him. "Then just sit back and watch how I prove you otherwise."
And the torture of having to listen to Cooking By The Book all along until Jungkook decided to pull over still haunts Taehyung as he walks the aisles in the petrol station. Dizzy and the horrendous (in his opinion) song replaying in his mind over and over again.
"You look like you just underwent a shock treatment, Tae." Comments Jungkook as he eyes the hair practically standing up on the elder's head, who offers an unenthusiastic grin in return.
