Chapter 8 - The Right Gift

A week before Touko's birthday...

Location - (L/N) Residence, (Y/N)'s Room

Your POV

The next day was bright and sunny, but still cold I bet. As I woke up from my sleep, I let out a happy sigh, knowing that I didn't have to think about anything. However, that began to change soon enough when my phone started to go off.

"Great, it's not even noon, and people are already reaching out to me." I said to myself.

I took a look to see who was texting me. Turns out it was Touko. I know she often wakes up at 5:00am, but isn't it a little too early to be getting text messages? Oh well, I should see what she wants, so I grabbed my phone and looked at her text.

Touko's text: Good morning, my love. ❤

Your text: Good morning, Touko. How are you doing this morning?

Touko's text: I'm over the moon because a special day is fast approaching.

Special day? What is she talking about? Is there something I should know about? Oh wait, I know...

Your text: If you're talking about Christmas, then you might have to wait a little bit longer.

Touko's text: I'm not talking about Christmas. :/

Your text: Oh, then you might have to wait until New Year's Eve before feeling excited.

Touko's text: I'm not talking about New Year's Eve! >:(

Your text: Oh, then what is it? Because I don't know anything else that happens in December.

Touko's text: Ummm, how about my birthday?

Your text: What about your birthday?

Touko's text: It's next week!

Her birthday is next week? Oh wait, it is next week! How the hell could 8 forget? But then again, it's not like it is tomorrow or anything.

Your text: Oh yeah, it is next week. Hehehe.

Touko's text: You forgot about my birthday, did you?

Your text: N-No, I didn't. I would never... forget your special day.

Touko's text: Did you just stutter over text?

Your text: I guess I did.

Touko's text: Why?

Your text: Because... ummm... uhhh... Look, the point is, I didn't forget about your birthday.

Touko's text: If you didn't forget, then what did you get me?

Your text: I can't tell you, otherwise it wouldn't be a surprise.

Touko's text: I guess you do have a point. Well, whatever you decide to get me, I'm sure I'm going to love it.

Your text: Yeah, I promise you will.

After texting her, I laid back down, used my arm to cover my eyes and let out a sigh. I mean, how could I forget about Touko's birthday? At least I have a whole week to give her a birthday gift. But... what kind of gift I should give her? I guess I should go down to the mall and think of something.

30 minutes later...

Location - Shopping Mall

I didn't waste anytime in getting to the mall. On the way over here, I began to think about what kind of gift I should get for Touko, but nothing was coming to mind. Since I am her boyfriend now, I want to make sure she has the best gift in the world, not just some... plain average gift.

When I arrived at the mall, I went to the first store and began to look around. There were a lot of hair accessories that Touko might like, but being a boy, I don't know which one she'll find cute.

"Maybe this one..." I said while looking at the hair accessories in my left hand.

"Or perhaps this one." I said while looking at the hair accessories in my right hand.

In my opinion, they're look both really cute, and it's hard for me to pick one over the other.

"What do I do?" I asked myself.

After giving it some thought, an idea popped in my head.

"That's it! I can buy both and give them to Touko, and if she doesn't like one of them, I can give the other one to my mom." I said. Of course, there is a chance that she'll like both of them, but hey, one can hope, right?

And so, I took them over to the front counter and pay for them. Then the hair accessories was placed in a little bag, and once that was taken care of, I walked out of the mall, feeling relieved that I don't have to freak out about this.

"Well, that takes care of that. Time for me to head home."

Location - Shopping District

I decided to take the long way home, to take a moment to think about how well Touko's birthday is going to be. And now that I am thinking about it, I bet she wants to go out for lunch and/or dinner with me.

I began to look around and keep an eye on the best restaurants the shopping district had to offer. When I found one, I pulled out my phone and texted Touko to see if I could get her approval.

Your text: Hey Touko, can I ask you a question?

Touko's text: Yeah, of course.

Your text: If I were to take you somewhere for lunch/dinner for your birthday, how do you feel about this place?

I sent her the pic of the restaurant I spotted.

Touko's text: Oh! That place looks like a fun place to catch some grub.

Your text: Does it have your seal of approval though?

Touko's text: You bet it does!

Your text: That's awesome! Just leave everything to me!

Touko's text: Got it, babe. ❤
