My headteacher turned to me. "Elouise, you would usually get a day of isolation for pressing the fire alarm bell. However, due to it all being a big misunderstanding, you will only get an hour's detention after school. You should count yourself very lucky. If you were to see something of these sorts again, please tell a teacher instead of setting off the fire alarm," he explained as I nodded in agreement. I felt a sense of relief even though I had got a detention. I also felt a bit stupid for setting off the fire alarm for something so trivial.
From that day on,I vowed to ask before I took action and to stop assuming. I may have scrapped out with just a detention but what I do know is this. That incident was a mistake and I would try my best to avoid it ever happening again.
To be frank, setting of the fire alarm was immature, irrational and daring which are none of my characteristics. This is not who I am. Assuming things is not who I am. That's why I will avoid assuming things at all costs. I will not be someone I'm not,so I will not assume.
