I stared out of the window to my college dorm, thinking of everything I was missing out on by going to college to pursue my “dream”. It was more like the dream of my parents, I was going to school to be a psychologist. What I really wanted to be doing was singing and being an inspiration to millions of people all over the world. Just like my idols did for me when I was going through my teenage life. There are two days until my finals and I know I’m not prepared, but I could honestly care less.

I looked at the clock, a half hour and then I had to be at work. I loved my job and all, it payed the bills and everything, but I had a bigger dream. I started to get ready for the long haul of working at a hometown coffee shop. It really was a good thing for me, and aspiring artist, there were a lot of college kids and high school kids that loved my music and my voice,  I have no idea where I got it from because both of my parents seem to be tone deaf. But there it is, I love being able to sing and play all kids of music. I have a huge, and very eclectic musical choice.

    *half hour later*

I opened the door to the small cafe and the familiar scene came into view. It smelled strongly of packed cigarettes and coffee. I love that smell, it’s great. I looked over behind the counter, Mary was standing there ringing up and caramel milkshake and handing back the change to a small figured college kid. I nudged the small swinging door that leads to behind the counter with my hip and tweaked my name tag and grabbed the sharpie off of the counter beside the register, ready to fill the orders of the college kids and hipster that streamed through the glass door at the front. I had served a peppermint mocha frappuccino when the cute little Mexican boy walked in. He’d been coming at 2:30 in the afternoon on the dot, for the 6 months I’d been working at the small coffee shop. He had a small silver nose ring in the left side of his nose and he had brown eyes that shown when he smiled and thanked me for his Cinnamon Dolce Latte. He ordered the same thing every day. Except this day, he wasn’t alone, he walked through the door at exactly 2:30 with a taller and slightly less muscular boy. He weaved through the arrangement of tables, the ones Mary and I had just rearranged for the winter season. He looked up at me and smiled and I couldn’t help but smile back.

I got butterflies as he walked up and asked for his latte and a caramel macchiato to go along with his. I grabbed two medium sized paper cups and mixed the two concoctions, and slid them across the counter at the two boys.

“That’ll be seven dollars and fifty-seven cents, please.” I said, my voice kind of cracking on the ‘please’. The taller Mexican boy looked at me and asked.,

“Hey, I know you from somewhere.. Don’t you play at the bar down the street on Saturdays and Wednesdays?”

“Um.. yeah. I do actually.” I said with a blush, feeling weird that he actually remembered me from somewhere.

“Yeah, you’re Kellin.. uh.. Kellin Quinn?” he asked excitedly.

“Yeah, I am. I’m surprised you remember me, there are lots of other more talented people that play there than me.” I answered with a frown of sorts

“Man, that’s not true, and you know it,” said the other boy, smiling at me, I have to admit he was really adorable when he smiled “Hey, would you mind if we came and listened to you play tomorrow?” he asked, and I about died. This cute Mexican boy wanted to come and listen to me play tomorrow night at some musty old bar?

“Uh.. well.. sure. You can if you want, but you really don’t have to waist your time on me.” I stated, looking over at Mary. She was probably getting mad at me for taking so long with the customers.

“Dude, you’re great. Jaime and I shall round up the boys and we’ll come a watch youu. Kay? kay.” the smaller boy said, not giving me another chance to deny him, and he walked out the door.
