Chapter Seventeen:
Stephen was still missing and I was two weeks away from my due date. The cops were hounding us every day almost. I sighed and walked into the kitchen.
Snake and I had move into Cry's place about three weeks ago. I could hear Cry cursing in the baby's room. He and Snake were setting it up. We had finally got it painted last week and all the furniture was delivered. I got out the stuff to make sandwiches. When I was finished I put them on a plate and grabbed the pitcher of sweet tea from the fridge.
Going into the baby's room I saw Cry swearing under his breath as he kicked a piece of the changing table.
"Hey guys, I have sandwiches," I said placing the food down.
Snake got up from the crib he was putting together and came over. He wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed my forehead as he picked up a sandwich.
"Thanks Sophi," Cry said, giving me a smile as he took a bite of his sandwich.
I nodded, "so how much do you guys have left?"
"Just the changing table. I'll probably finish it since Cry is having trouble with it," Snake said in between bites.
Cry grumbled at him, "that thing is the devil."
I laughed at him, "well I'm going to lay down."
Snake gave me a quick kiss before I left the room.
Four hours later:
I woke up to a sharp pain in the abdomen. I held my side and hiss in pain.
"Shit. This is two weeks too soon," I mumbled.
I took a deep breath and relaxed as the pain went away. Not to long after I had another wave of pain. It was a contraction and they were close. I groaned in pain before yelling for Snake.
I heard footsteps moving quickly upstairs and down the stairs. The door flew open and Snake was at my side. Cry stood in the doorway.
"Sophi! Sophi what's wrong?" Snake asked me.
"The baby," I barely got out before a was debilitated from pain again.
"Cry," Snake ordered, "start the car. Get the suitcase out of the closet."
Cry nodded and did as he was told. Snake helped me up and slipped his arms under me, picking me up with ease.
He carried me to the car that Cry had backed out of the driveway. He slid me into the back seat and climbed into the drivers seat.
We sped to the hospital. I tried steady my breathing while Cry yelled at Snake the slow down, which Snake yelled a few choice words at him.
We pulled up to the Emergancy entrance. Snake helped me out of the car and into a wheel chair Cry had brought to us. Snake wheeled me inside.
"Sir, can I help you?" a nurse asked.
"My girlfriend is pregnant. I think she's in labor," Snake answered.
"Okay sir," she said, "please wait here."
"No," Snake said, "you're not taking her any where without me."
The nurse could tell by the look in his face that she wasn't going to win. So she just sighed and pushed me down the hall, Snake close behind.
"I'll call everyone," Cry called after us.
I was wheeled into a room and put into a bed. I laid there in discomfort as I waited for the doctor.
"Snake," I whined, "make the pain stop."
"I wish I could baby," he said, taking my hand.
The doctor came in, a nurse behind him.
"Hi Miss. Adams. I hear we might be having a baby today," he said, sitting at the foot of the bed, lifting my gown.
After a few minutes of poking and prodding he confirmed it. I was having a baby today. He gave me a shot of pain killers into my spine and advised I get some rest.
I looked at Snake who smiled at me and kissed my forehead.
"We're having a baby," I said softly. I could feel butterflies in my stomach.
He nodded, "yes we are baby."
