MARSAI'S POV
"MarMar time to get up!" I felt the covers snatch off my body and groaned."Come on lil girl, we're running late. Get dressed and I'm stopping by ChickFilA for breakfast." KiKi said. My eyes fully opened and I sat up.
"See now that's a shame." She shook her head and closed my door back.
I showered and got dressed in a grey Nike sweatshirt and matching pants set. My hair is taking a break from the weaves and braids so I undid my silk scarf and started undoing my twist out with coconut oil in my hands.
Washing the oil from my hands, I brushed my teeth and sprayed my favorite perfume across my body. Today's the day I secretly wanted to try out for the dance team so I added my Ivy Park set in my book bag. After everything was packed, I grabbed my phone and closed my bedroom door.
"Good morning." I said to Ki. She was standing by the door to the garage.
"Morning MarMar. You look cute today." She told me.
"Thank you! So do you." I said back.
"Thanks boo!" She led the way to her car.
~~~~~~~
SchoolFourth period just started and I'm already ready to go home. I know I still have to stay afterwards for tryouts, so that's making me super anxious and ready to get class over with.
As my teacher talked, my mind wouldn't stay focused to the assignment on my desk.
Ever since I told my Dad and Ki what's been going on at school, nothing has really changed. They even went and sat down with my principal and he couldn't do anything about it. He said that because the bullying has been happening online and not physically at school, it's out of his and the school's control. I call bull but it's whatever.
My Dad even spoke with a detective and were able to trace the kids who were behind the mean Instagram pages. It turned out to be some 9th grade girls who I've never seen in my life and now that people saw Dad and KiKi up at the school when it all went down, they're calling me a snitch and punk.
The bell finally rung for the next class, so I grabbed my book bag and left my science class. I was walking down the steps when someone in the distance called my name out of nowhere and at the same time someone from behind me pushed me.
"Ahhhhhh" I yelled as I fell down the steps and I immediately grabbed my knee. I looked up and recognized one of the girls that's been bullying me laughing at the top of the stairs with her phone out. I wish I could get up and fight her right now but I'm in so much pain.
"Omg Marsai! Are you okay?" My favorite teacher, Mrs. Jones, came up to me and kneeled down. She started moving my knee and I yelped.
"Noooo it hurts! I can't move it!" I started crying and she tried to stretch my knee out but I swatted her hand away. Mrs. Jones used her walkie talkie to tell someone to call the ambulance.
Kids were crowding all around me with their phones out until teachers came out of their rooms to get them out of my face.
"Marsai we're gonna call your Dad to come up here." Mrs. Jones said.
"No call my Mom. He's not in town." I told her.
"Who's your mom?" She asked me surprised.
"Call Kierra Sheard." I said. She stood up and left while another teacher waited with me.
I just wanted my Mom at this point.
KIERRA'S POV
After dropping Marsai off at school, I decided to treat myself with a mini shopping spree. I decided to first go into Nordstorm because I had a performance in a few days and I wanted a new outfit to wear. I was looking through the racks when my phone rang. I didn't recognize the number but answered anyways.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hi, is this Kierra Sheard?" The caller asked.
"Yes this is she. Who's calling?"
"It's Mrs. Jones, one of the teachers at your daughter's school. She had a very bad accident on the stairs and it appears her leg may be broken. We've called an ambulance." She said.
"Oh My God! I'm coming right now. Please don't let her go into the ambulance by herself until I arrive."
"Yes ma'am. See you soon."
"Ok bye." I hung up my phone and placed all of the clothes that were in my hands on the nearest clothes rack and rushed to my car. Thankfully I parked in the first parking spot and zoomed out of the mall.
As I sped down the road, I called Sean even though I knew he's out of town.
"Wassup babe." He spoke into my car's speaker phone.
"Babe! Something's happen to Marsai at school and I'm heading there now." I said in a rushed tone.
"What! Is everything okay? What's going on?" He asked.
"A teacher called and said she had an accident near some stairs. I really don't know what's going on but they're calling an ambulance because it's bad." I said.
"Damn. I'm getting a flight back right now." He said.
"No babe. Wait until I call you at the hospital to see what the doctor says. I know you really have to be in LA right now so I got it handled."
"Are you sure, Ki? I know you got your own stuff to handle as well."
"Yes, I'm sure baby. I'll keep you posted though, I'm pulling up at the school right now." I turned into the school's parking lot and headed straight towards the entrance.
"Alright babe. Call me when you find out everything."
"Okay love you." I said.
"Love you too." I hung up our call, got out the car & locked my door.
A woman was already at the door, standing there almost as if she was expecting me.
"Ms. Sheard, I'm Mrs. Jones from the phone. Please follow me this way."
I couldn't really focus on her greeting, I just wanted to make it to Marsai as soon as possible. Going through the hallway, it was hard getting through because of the staff and EMT workers but I pushed through.
From a distance, I could see Marsai on a gurney with her leg propped up and bent. My heart sunk and I could already sense that she was in a lot of pain.
"Omg! Marsai!" I rushed to her side.
"Mommy it hurts! I can't bend my leg!" She said to me. I was stunned for a second when she referred to me as Mommy because she's never called me that before. But I couldn't react to this moment, I needed to handle her accident.
"I know baby but I'm here." I said.
"Ma'am, we're ready to transport her to the hospital now." One of the medical workers said to me.
"Okay, let me park my car properly and I'm riding with y'all." I said trailing behind them as they rolled Marsai outside.
All she did was cover her eyes with her arm because people were recording us as we walked down the hall. Kids were even shouting my name but I couldn't focus on that at all.
I don't know what exactly happened, but I know for sure Marsai didn't fall on her own account. She's not that type of clumsy girl.
And when I do find out what happened, there will be hell to pay.
