I am facing back and forth. Now, I am regretting for not opposing Duke Nikolo's abrupt decision.
Malalim na ang gabi pero hindi ako pinapatulog ng aking pag-aalala. Pilit akong binabagabag ng mga sinabi ni Duke Nikolo kanina. I remember it clearly and precisely.
"It is settled. You are going there tomorrow."
"Noted, father." Alanganin kong sagot.
"Don't let me down this time. I don't want a disgrace in this family." This sure was piercing Lady Sneddelline's heart.
"Nikolo!" napasigaw si Duchess Stelline. Binigyan ako nito ng nag-aalalang tingin. "She is your daughter. Napag-usapan na natin 'to, di ba? I thought we met a concensus."
"Losing her memory is not an excuse. She should give us honour rather than shame. Once is enough, twice is unforgiveable." Pinal na sabi ni Duke Nikolo.
Wala namang masabi si Duchess Stelline sa isang tabi.
This is how the Duke treats her daughter. No wonder, kung bakit tila may nararamdaman akong takot sa Duke. Lady Sneddelline must have been pressured in her entire life.
Napag-alaman ko ring mahina talaga si Lady Sneddelline. Not that she has no power before but also her skills and intellect are below average. Tanging sa pagtatanim lang ito magaling. But now I am here, I can eventually change that. They will see the new Lady Sneddelline they never expect for. Pero, paano kung papasok ako sa paaralan ng mga main characters? All I need to do is to avoid them, but this is getting out-of-hand.
I heave a sigh as I sit down on the bed. I don't have any choice. Kung pagpasok lang naman ang gagawin ko, walang problema. I really need to be extra careful not to cross path to the main characters of the story, as well as the other supporting characters. With that thought, I still am able to sleep.
Nagising pa rin ako nang maaga kahit tatlong oras lang ang tulog ko. I am thankful that I have Nesh who is very attentive to my morning needs like breakfast and a bath. She even helps me wearing my dress. Being a daughter of a Duke, I am expected to wear these kind of dresses like in fairytales. Noong una, naiilang pa ako dahil iba ito sa mga nakasanayan kong suotin; but I am there of getting used to it.
"You're beautiful, Lady Sneddelline." Komento ni Nesh habang tinitingnan ako sa salamin. Kakatapos lang nyang lagyan ng kunting makeup ang mukha ni Lady Sneddelline.
"Thank you." I smiled as I looked at Lady Sneddelline's reflection on the mirror.
There is no doubt about that. Maganda naman talaga sya, 'yon nga lang she is not that skilled and intelligent. Kagaya sa mundo ko, face is useless without a brain. Marahil isa ito sa mga dahilan kung bakit marami ang nanghihiyang sa kanya. But if we think it thoroughly, Lady Sneddelline is an outstanding woman. She may not be shrewd but her character alone is a gem.
"Nandito na po lahat ng kailangan nyo," itinuro ni Nesh and dalawang maleta sa likuran. "Ipagpatawad nyo po kung hindi ko kayo masasamahan." Nagbabadya na syang umiyak.
"Okay lang, Nesh. Huwag mo 'yong iisipin. I can handle myself." I assured her.
Tumayo na ako at lumabas ng kwarto. Nakasunod sa akin si Nesh at isang lalaking tagapagsilbi na dala ang mga maleta ko. Nakita ko si Duchess Stelline sa entrada ng mansyon.
She smiled as she saw me. "Sneddy, I will miss you," sinabulong nya ako ng yakap. "Just enjoy your time there. Huwag mong alalahanin ang mga sinabi ng 'yong ama."
