Corpse Trials

Chapter 6: Alex's PoV

Rose groaned,"Put me down!" She tried to command me, a small grin grew across my face,"You've lost your right to walk." I said trying to cut back on my ridiculous grin that grew slightly as the thoughts of Rose filled my head," Hey, Alex the light is back." Rose said knocking my train of thought off,"What?" I asked her not grasping what she had just said,'Damn it Alex get it together.' I thought to myself, "The light fro-", as Rose began to explain herself but she shut herself off,"You ok?" I asked slightly worried, a loud chalkboard-scratching roar, drowned out my concern for Rose as my heart sank as the memories of the fiery horror behind me flooded my mind.

This was the Ignis Trial

I took off in a sprint, I didn't have time to put Rose down. The flames from the beast warmed my back,'Shit, shit, shit!' I repeated in my mind quickly,"Alex run faster!" Rose yelled trying to be louder than the rumble of Ignis, I began to pant as a fork came up ahead I had to choose, Left, Right or Straight. I dashed to the left,"It's a nest," I said my lungs began to burn as my stomach felt hot,"Huh?" Rose asked confused,"That's momma."  My lungs begged me to stop,"There is a way out right?" She asked,"Not sure," I gasped for air as I slowed down to a halt, putting Rose down trying to be gentle with her, as I bent over placing both hands on my knees,"Heh, breaks over!" Rose said, grabbing my arm, and entwining her fingers into mine,'Does she like me? Or do girls just do this?' My thoughts continued even if we were about to die, she dragged me forward as I continued to gasp for air. I continued on even though my body wanted to stop, a loud whistle went off as Rose collapsed in front of me, I tumbled ontop of her as I began to feel weak, my eyelids began to feel heavy as I passed out my body laying over Rose's legs.
