I winced in pain as the sharp breeze stung my face. I forced my way across the frozen tundra, barely keeping up a stride.
"Anyone?! Help!" I shouted as loud as I could muster. A powerful force of wind was able to knock me off my feet. I was going to die here. My vision started to blur and my breathing decreased rapidly. I could feel my consciousness slip away from me.
...
My eyes fluttered open at the warm embrace of heat. As I surveyed my surrondings, I found myself being swallowed in blankets in a cabin. I was only able to move my head in this twin bed. I was suddenly greeted by a dark haired man kneeling on the edge of the bed.
"Are you hurt anywhere?" He asked with concern.
"No, Thanks for the consideration. What's your name? If you don't mind me asking."
"Fullbuster. Gray Fullbuster. And you?"
"I'm (f/n) (l/n). Thank you Gray for saving me. How can I repay you? I don't have much on me but-"
"Don't worry about it. The cold never bothered me anyway," Gray interrupted. "Anyways, why were you out in the blizzard all by yourself?"
"I-I had to get away from someone. He's a very dangerous guy. I'd... rather not talk about it," I trailed off.
"Sorry to stir up bad memories," Gray apologized. After an awkward silence, he finally spoke up.
"Are you hungry? I could make us some soup," Gray suggested.
"I could go for some soup. Do you have any (flavor of soup)?"
"I'll go check." Gray then made a hasty exit. Soon afterwards the enticing smell of (flavor) soup made it's way into the room I was in. It smelt sooo good!
I was able to hop my way out the door, still wrapped in covers. I took a seat at one of the dining chairs. When Gray turned his head, he chuckled at the sight of me so eager for soup, while still wrapped in blankets.
"I would have brought it to you, ya know."
"It smells way to good to wait that long," I complimented.
Gray turned back to fill two bowls with the homemade soup. He placed a bowl in front of me and the other across the small, round table. After getting the spoons, he took a seat.
I looked down at the piping hot soup before me. My tummy growled louder than ever yet, I couldn't eat with my arms tucked in blankets. Gray noticed this and pulled his chair closer to me. He picked up my spoon to scoop up some soup.
"Open wide," he said. I obeyed and was greeted by the sensation of warmth, traveling down my throat.
It continued like this for a while until he finished his soup and decided to take some of mine.
"Hey! Give that back, thief!" I yelled at him. He thought about it for a moment and choose to give it back... through a kiss. Again, the liquid ran down my throat but his lips were still pressed against mine. I got the soup back but he stole something else from me.
The next day...
The blizzard had stopped it's madness in the morning. I asked Gray to escort me to the nearest town in case I had another emergency. I trailed silently behind him thinking of the events that occurred yesterday. I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard a familiar voice shout," I finally found you!"
We turned our heads in curiosity to meet an angry looking man. I gave Gray a concerning look as if to tell him this guy is bad news.
"Listen, I'm not sure-" Gray began.
"I wasn't talking to you, pipsqueak!" The man countered. Gray was quite offended by that comment.
"Look, I don't know who you are but would you just leave us alone?"
"Oh, she never told you about me? I'm her ex boyfriend, Brad."
"Well Brad, can we just go our separate ways?"
"Not until I get the girl," Brad confronted. I shook my head and hid behind Gray. He seemed a little taken aback.
"Then I'll just take you by force," Brad decided. He reached to pull my hand towards him, but was interrupted by someone else's arm. He looked up at Gray and used his other arm to connect a fist with his face. Brad stepped back into a defensive stance, ready to pounce at anytime.
"Ice make Lance!" Gray shouted before a lance made of ice launched towards Brad. Before landing a hit, the ice had evaporated in front of him. With a sly look, Brad soon launched an attack of his own,
"Fire Mage's Fireball!"
As the attack grew closer and closer to us, Gray ripped of his clothes. Wintry air emitted from his body as he got ready to fight. He created a gigantic shield to protect me from any further danger.
"This fight is gonna be quick. You're nothing compared to a certain flamebrain I know," Gray concluded. To end the match, he made a cannon so big he had to lift it on his shoulder.
This time, Brad's flames weren't powerful enough to melt the ice and he was sent flying. After confirming that Brad was truly gone, he thawed all of his active magic. We continued to walk again and to break the silence, Gray asked,
"That means your single right?"
