Daryl and I were laying in bed the first night talking, "I feel like I was a horrible mom. Always leaving and pushing him on Carol or Beth," I sighed.
"No, you wasn't. I was a shitty dad. Hardly even held him. I left you to take care of him on your own to be with my brother," he scuffed.
"Daryl, you were the perfect dad. It wasn't our fault we thought he was already on the bus. Maybe later down the road we can try again, if you want to."
"Yeah, I do."
"Okay, one day at a time," I smiled.
"One day at a time," he repeated wiping my tears then kissing me.
The next afternoon I got up to an empty bed. I slide on jeans and one of Daryl's shirts then went downstairs to see Daryl sitting on the couch. I walked up behind him and slide my arms around his neck, "took you long enough to get up," he smiled leaning his head to the side.
"Shut up," I laughed, "I'm going to go to dad's he wanted to talk to me about something I do believe. I'll be back."
" 'ight, when you do get back we're gonna talk about you not sleeping," he said. I kissed him and then left.
When I got to dad's he wasn't there and Judith was alone. I grabbed her and some clothes then walked out, "hey, Jamie, did you hear?" Michonne asked.
"Hear what?"
"Glenn, Tara, and Noah got put as runners. Maggie is Deanna's assistant. They still don't know where to put Daryl, but she said she'll figure it out. She's holding a party for us tonight, then we all start our jobs. Where's Rick?"
"Couldn't tell you, but him and Daryl have been acting weird."
"New place, maybe?"
"Hopefully," I smiled, "well, I better find Carl so I can get them fed and ready. I'll meet you there."
"Alright," Michonne smiled then we parted ways.
I walked over to Jessie's and knocked, her husband, Pete, answered the door, "can I help you?"
"Yeah, hi, I'm Jamie Dixon," I extended my hand and he shook it, "is my brother Carl, here by any chance?"
"Yeah, come on in."
"Thank you," I walked in and he closed the door behind me and led the way to a boy's room.
"Carl, your sister is here," Pete said.
"Hey, Jamie, come in meet my friends," Carl said.
"Oh, hi, everyone," I said.
They all stared at Judith and I, "is she yours?" A girl, Enid, asked.
"No, our sister," I answered.
